Elliott in October
Babysitting Henry (one day older than Elliott) and, left, going for a walk with Daddy on a chilly morning.
Doesn't he look great in jewel tones?

I thought this left one was nice of his eyes.

At right he is sitting on his own momentarily (notice my hand waiting for a rescue). Sometimes he'll put his arms down to stabilize himself, but other times whatever toy is in his hands or just out of his reach is more interested than remembering about gravity.

On the bed I let him practice and fall over.
So, this is his reaction to his first tastes of butternut squash on October 8. He was a game taster and kept trying it - willingly taking the spoon from one of us, putting the spoon in his mouth, putting his hands in the bowl, trying to tip the bowl into his mouth. But what he did taste he didn't particularly like, it seems. The first reaction was really a wince and was then followed by this look of "are you kidding me? That's what I've been waiting for all this time?"
Above: "You called?" Elliott looking at me when I called his name. And otherwise chillin' on sick Daddy's lap after a long day charming people at the Green Festival.
Left: First trip to the National Zoo!
Below: Squealing at the water Daddy is pouring on him, then sitting up like a big boy, transfixed by the camera, as always.
Here is our new spacious (ha!) but still not fully safe living room. I don't know how he got so far from the activity mat so fast!
When sat down on a bale of hay at the pumpkin patch, Elliott was obsessed with looking at the pumpkins and clawing at the hay. It was a rare moment in that he would not look at the camera! These were the best photos we got.

By contrast, he was getting pretty annoyed with me at St. Elmo's coffee house, where we went for a music show, until I got out the camera to capture his oak tree costume. The beautiful hat was made by my K College friend Linda; it inspired the rest of the homemade costume. At right is just a nice shot of his eyes with the pretty foliage in the background.
Above is Elliott at playgroup with Sean (dinosaur), Theo (frog) and Clare (pumpkin). At right is all of us - the "family tree" (except that we are maples) - right before we visited a few neighbors for Elliott's first trick-or-treating.

Below is just a regular day sitting on the playmat. Now that he sits well, he can play for longer on his own, though eventually he does get horizontal and start rolling or, much to his chagrin, moving backwards.
