Elliott in December
Elliott is getting around quite easily now with his infantry or commando crawl. On occasion he lifts up one butt cheek but still isn't really interested in being up on all fours. He is more interested in standing, however. I took a risk to snap a photo of him balancing against his new activity center, a gift from John's Aunt Donna and Uncle Larry. He did pretty well! The accident was when I took off the legs so he could play with it on the ground, and he pulled up on the little blue door/flap and up-ended the whole thing to bop him in the nose. He cried for about two seconds.
"Wow, standing is fun!"
"No, really, Mom, I'm okay."
"Told ya."
Favorite Toys
All bundled up to go grocery shopping, but first Elliott must play with the Ergo backpack/diaper bag. Later, he does his best impression of a couch potato with his friend, the remote control.
Elliott has been having fun amusing himself lately these days - playing alone. He's happy to do it on the rug but is so fast I can only let him when I'm watching him or he'll find a cord or something we haven't yet hidden. He even crawls over onto the hard wood floor toward the dining room and has enough control that we don't worry anymore about him hurting his head if he rolls over. To be safe, I put him sometimes in his pack n play (at left) while I cook or eat. We also have one upstairs that is the safe place for him to be when I shower, but we have to give it back soon, so we might be hitting Craigslist again.
Above - Elliott feeds himself potato. He won't take the mushed up stuff, but cooked chunks he can pick up at least get a bite or two.
Below, a few weeks later, we just wanted Elliott to play while we ate lunch. John decided to give him a leaf of lettuce. Since it's so close to paper and leaves, other things he likes to eat, he decided to give it a try! He really seemed to enjoy making a crunching sound with the lettuce between his teeth! But we took it away as the pieces became smaller and unsafe.
Just a cute playing photo, I thought, and a rare profile shot.
Out to dinner.
Left: Elliott just lost a round of tug of war. Doesn't he look like such a big boy in the high chair? (In truth, he only spent a few minutes there. Most of the time he was stroking the fabric on the booth behind me or playing with and empty bread basket.
Commando crawling. Can you tell he is getting a little more hair (yes, it is red).
At right, the imp we know and love. "Heh, heh, heh."
