About the Club
WhereWe meet in Pitt Meadows on Sharpe Road
WhenOur meetings and training sessions are on Wednesday   nights.  We train from March until June.  Contact us for details on time.
WhoKids aged 9-20.  Any dogs are welcome, although 4H      disallows any dogs that are Wolf or Coyote cross.  In our club we currently have a mix of purebreds, cross  breeds, large, small and medium size.
Haney Hounds 4H Dog Club is in Maple Ridge BC, although we train in Pitt Meadows.  The two communites are closely linked and sometimes referred to as Ridge Meadows.  The club was founded in 2001 and is one of three dog clubs in the North Fraser 4H District.  Maple Ridge has one of the highest rates of dog ownership per capita than any other city in Canada.  Our goal is to help kids and their dogs build a relationship of trust and companionship while learning about obedience, showmanship, dog sports, grooming, canine health and nutrition and many other aspects of dog ownership.
To be a member of any 4H club involves more than just taking care of your pet.  Some other aspects of the club are public speaking, fundraising, learning to judge many other types of animal such as horses, goats, rabbits and even hay and produce.  There are also many opportunities to show your dog off in competitions with other clubs. Our training sessions, once a week, alternate between obedience and showmanship training and Agility training.
The motto of any 4H club is to Learn to Do by Doing.  All members are responsible for their own dog and must record its feed, learn to groom it and train it on their own.  However we encourage parental support in many ways.
If you would like to know any more details about our club you may contact anyone of the leaders.
