Ooshima - haunted island near Tojimbob>
So, oddly enough, one of Fukui's tourist traps is a place called Tojimbo. It is a natural cliff overlooking the ocean. Really pretty, but it got its notoriety from being a really popular place for people to commit suicide. Yeah - I was trying to understand that one...It wasn't as breath taking as Fuji - but I guess to be able to stand on a cliff where quite a few people decided to call it quits has some appeal.
What I found more interesting was the island across from Tojimbo. Supposedly its haunted by all the spirits of the people who lost/took their lives at Tojimbo. Aside from that though - it was a really pretty island. The picure above is from one of the shores of the small island. There are like three shrines scattered throughout it - I went around and prayed for the spirits housed there.
