The Elephants Parting

Skulls lie in bare earth
bones we cannot leave behind
fractured by cruel hands.
Crimson Thoughts

That drop of blood
oozes down the chalky wall,
sap from a gnarled tree into cool air.
It rips through my thoughts.

Thorns prick at my soft skin,
blood sinks into the carpets weave,
as a cherrys inky pigment.
Aromas, inflamed by candles,
as wine spills in unwilled slumber.

Your bloodshot eyes in white light,
come close to my ear,
breath reddens my cold skin,
lips whisper desires,
fire on cool death,
forcing blood through forgotten veins.
Brambles twist into committed sins,
becoming entangled in each others lies.
My eyelids close, crimson stains inside.
Secrets now only left scratched into woods grain,
as leaves tugged just out of grasp.
One vivid collision of love,
Gone wrong.
Glass.

Fragments of glass, shattered.
Reflecting the world in fractured parts.
One eye looks back in a steel gaze,
Blinking at the sharp shreds of life,
Each piece of glassy moon.
The surface smooth,
an ice held river.

I look into the pool,
shes staring back
unblinking.
I wont yield beneath the burden.
She doesnt stir.

Deep eyes,
Her face, a scar scrapped down one side,
I feel the line down my own.
My own eyes stare back.
Me.

I hear the distant screams,
Distant thuds,
Muffled voices.
All shouting in the same hideous voice
I love you.
As the last phone rings in the debris
Unanswered.
