The golden Hamster, highly successful mammalian order known as Rodentia, the rodents.They are named that becuase of their gnawing front teeth,called incisors. I f looked at in terns of species, distribustion range, and adaptatiion to various ecological enviroments, rodents are the most succcessful mamals on earth.One memer of the rodent family, the rat, is only second to insects as the most feared,hated, and hunted animal with which man has to contend to.
Rodents are found on all continets except Antarctica and they
range in size from the diminutive African Dwarf mice only at 8 cm (3 3/4 inches) to the largest rodent, the capybara of South America which is about 1 m (3 feet 3 inches)in body length. However most are quite small. Rodents can be found in deserts, tropical rain forests, frozen wastes, open plains, and in or by rivers and lakes.
