March 3rd, 2005
Hello everyone!  I hope your March is going well!  I have been busy here at HamsterDance!  Trixie's pups are doing wonderful!  They are fat and healthy, and full of energy!  As I mentioned earlier, we were expecting Opal, Opal Mottleds, Normals, and Normal Mottleds.  Well, as it turns out, Trixie had a few Trix up her sleeve!  Appearantly, she carries the black gene!  As a result, the four surviving pups were 1. Normal Mottled  2. Opal  3. Black  4. BLUE!!  This is worth celebrating for!  I have now officially produced my first home raised black and my first home raised two gene color!!  This was a whole generation earlier than we had expected!  But, in project perspective, I will still put two of the pups together, not including the blue, to get another blue as we would have done before this litter.  I have until May of 2007 to get a Champagne pup of my own breeding for my Senior Thesis.  While this may seem like a lot of time, it is not.  If I bred the females as early as they could, I would be looking at near 30 months to get the Champagne.  I only have about 26 months left!  To save time, I may bring Silky into the program as the two gene color to save a generation time.
Mouse and Calypso have been breeding for the past week.  I watched them mate successfully several times last night, so we will be watching for pups in a couple of weeks!
Coal and Silky have been together since Trixie went into labor.  They, too, have mated several times and are expected to have pups in a week or so.  They will be born shortly before Mouse's litter if everything was successful, as they bred a few days before Mouse and Calypso.
Muffin and Kibbles have also been attempting some breeding.  I have not seen them as of yet, but I have seen them try.  *Kibbles is very interested by Muffin doesn't agree!*
So, It seems that we will be having a baby boom in a couple of weeks!  Check back and I'll keep you updated!

Trixie delivered Four healthy pups yesterday and all is well!  We will be watching these babies closely to see how they turn out!  My Honors Sophomore lecture was today, everything went great.  Best of all, I PASSED! Yeah!  My Mother, My Boyfriend John, and My Best Friend Rachael showed up to watch me.  Mouse and Calypso are beginning to be interested, so are Kibbles and Muffin.  We hope to have more babies soon!

Wonderful News!!
Trixie is EXPECTING!!! We hope to be delivering Trixie x Coal pups this week!  My hamsters also came in from California.  Wonderful babies!!  We now are welcoming two grey hamsters (AAA's Angel Wings, "Gabe" male, and AAA's Scarlet Contessa, "Tessa" female), AAA's Velvet Vanessa, "Nessa," is a normal female, sister to Tessa, carrying grey, AAA's Kibbles and Bits is a lovely lilac fawn male, and the new Moscow babies (AAA's Sweet Snickers, female, and AAA's Tasty Twix, male).  What a week!  Since Coal has done his job well, when Trixie nears delivery, he will be removed to avoid immediate re-pregnancy, and placed with Silky.  Because Silky is blue, most of their pups will be black, but since Coal carries Opal, a lot will be blue!  Look for lots of updates this week!  Lots of things are going on right now!

I believe that now is the best time to begin my journal, as I believe I have located an animal with each of the four genes, BEA, Black, Opal, and Argente.  I currently have Hamsterville's Dark as Coal, a black male carrying opal, paired with Hamsterville's Krystal Trixie, an opal mottled female. This pairing should result in 1. Normals 2. Normal Mottled 3. Maybe Opal/Opal Mottled because Coal is from Opal lineage.  Two of these pups, one mottled, one not, will be paired to produce 1. Black/Black Mottled 2. Opal/Opal Mottled 3. Blue/Blue Mottled

Hamsterville's Soft Calypso, an Argente Mottled male,  is paired with HamsterDance's Mousecapades, an Opal female carrying Argente.  This pairing should result in 1. Normals 2. Normal Mottled 3. Argente/Argente Mottled as Mouse is sired by the late HamsterDance's Teddy Bear, an Argente male.  Two of these pups, one mottled, one not, will be paired hopefully producing 1. Argente/Argente Mottled  2. Opal/Opal Mottled 3. Blue Fawn/Blue Fawn Mottled.

The Blue Fawn/Blue Fawn Mottled from the Calypso/Mouse litter will be paired with the Blue/Blue Mottled from the Coal/Trixie litter.  Either or Neither of the two could be mottled.  This would result in 1. Normal/ Normal Mottled 2. Opals/Opal Mottled  Two of these pups would then be paired to produce 1. Black/Black Mottled  2. Opal/Opal Mottled  3. Argente/Argente Mottled 4. RE Lilac, our first THREE gene color!!

I have  a group coming in this Saturday from Linda Price including, a grey male, a grey female, a normal female carrying grey, a moscow male, a moscow female, and a lilac fawn male.  The greys and the normal are colonized, the moscows will be paired, and the lilac fawn male will be placed with HamsterDance's Fluffy Muffin and HamsterDance's Party Girl to ensure they are BEAs.  They will then be placed with Hamsterville's Dark as Coal to try for a chocolate!
