Hamster Life Cycle:
The average lifespan varies from species to species. The Chinese Hamster, Dwarf Winter White and Campbells Hamsters generally live from 1-2 years. Although it has been reported that some Chinese Hamsters have lived to up to 3 years. Chinese Hamsters can breed as early as 4-5 weeks of age but should not breed until they are atleast 2-3 months old. The gestation period is 18-21 days and the average litter is 5-6. The babies will open their eyes at 12 days and can be weaned at 3 weeks.
Syrian hamsters live an average of 2-3 years and on rare ocasions have lived to be 5 years old. Syrians can breed as early as 3 weeks of age but should not be breed until a mimimum of 4 months. The gestation period is 16 days and the average litter is 6-8. Babies will open their eyes at 18 days and can be weaned at 3-4 weeks.
