School days, school days, dear old golden rule days!

Treat your friends as you do your pictures, and place them in their best light.
-Jennie Jerome Churchill

Here they are - - our home room pictures from Junior, Sophomore and Freshmen years; these are the best scans I can get, sorry for a couple of blurry edges  - my Nesaki was flattened to no avail. There are 21 pictures here that were scanned in Grayscale at 300 dpi at 200%, then cropped from the page and resized to 50%, auto enhanced, year and room number added and the layer merged, then saved as a jpeg (that's for you techies out there!). To see the full sized picture, you must open the thumbnail - just click it. The larger file may take a little time to load. There are no names on these pictures, (explanation on main page). Our thanks to the writers of our class histories they are found below. Click your browser's back button to return here after viewing the big pictures (do not close windows).

So, you want to save the full sized picture? -Here's how... (for PC's)
1. with your mouse, RIGHT click on the picture.
2. a small popup window comes up, point to "Save Picture As" click it
3. a popup window enables you to save the jpeg file on your pc

Junior Year 1961 Nesaki pages 44, 45, 46

The Old calendar on the wall tells us that the time is almost here for us to take over the title of senior. Thinking of the many responsibilities to be heaped on us next year, we wonder it we are ready for this honorable title.
Looking back at the calendar we remember many important days; the first day of school, meeting all our old friends and making new ones, Booster day, band concerts, choral performances, baseball, basketball, and football games, dances, and, of course, exams. But our junior year was also filled with many "red letter" days. The wonderful day that we got our class rings, and those nerve wracking days of College Boards and National Merit exams are all high on our list of memories, but the most important date was our Junior Prom We can never forget that wonderful night and the hours of work that preceded it.
In the past we have proved that we are an alert and enthusiastic class, and our primary goal is to maintain this reputation.

Let us be grateful to people who make us happy;
They are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.
-Marcel Proust

 My Boyfriend's Back

It takes a long time to grow an old friend!

Sophomore Year 1960 Nesaki pages 43, 44, 45

With Freshman year safely behind us, we, the class of '62, felt very adult on the first day of school. It was our turn to point the way to the library and to explain that there wasn't any room numbered 202! We heard a bit too often that sophomore means "wise fool," but, with that exception, we were free from the ribbing so common last year.
Many new activities were open to us, and we showed our enthusiasm by joining varsity sports, Concert Choir, the Green Room Players, and Student's Review. Those of us who had maintained a B average became members of the Sophomore Pro Merito Society. We were introduced to typing and to French, both interesting and useful subjects. "Parlez-vous francais?"
Our job is only one-half done; our goal, graduation, is still two years away. But we are determined to do a successful job in the future, as we have in the past, and to be a credit to Northampton High School.

A friend is someone who knows all about you but loves you anyway.-Anon.

A Little Help From My Friends

Little moments add up to the friendship of a lifetime.

Freshman Year 1959 Nesaki pages 44, 45, 46

The first bewildering days of high school, the pranks, and initiations are in the past and school life, in ever enlarging ways, looms ahead for us - the class of 1962! Homework, extra activities, marshalling, and rushing to lunch are part of our future at Hamp High.
For the first time we've encountered the confusing subject of algebra and the strange people for the pages of our history books, along with some old friends, such as poetry, and sentence diagramming!
We've become interested in new activities and a great many of our ideals and ideas have changed since our first days as highschoolers. And we know that this growing process will continue to the end of our school career.
But at the close we will be able to hold our heads high for, though we come from various schools, all our loyalties gradually have been formed into one great allegiance - to Northampton High School.

Friendship need no Reason! -Ibycus

Ah! How good it feels - the hand of an old friend.  -Longfellow

To know someone here or there
with whom you can feel there is
understanding in spite of distances
or thought unexpressed -
That can make this life a garden.
