The Paladins chief role in most groups is as melee combatant, and her spell selection is helpful in battling evil.

She makes a good healer, and her high Charisma opens up leadership opportunities.

The Paladin draws on divine power to heal herself and her allies, wards off harm, protects her from disease, and guards her heart against fear.  A novice can confront evil, and experienced paladins can smite evil foes, turn away undead and cast from a selection of divine spells.

The compassion to pursue good, the will to uphold law, and the power to defeat evil these are the three weapons of the paladin.  Few have the purity and devotion that it takes to walk the paladins path, but those few are rewarded with the power to protect, to heal, and to smite.  In a land o scheming nobles, unholy priests, inscrutable dragons, backstabbing guilds, and infernal fiends, the paladin is the final hope that cannot be extinguished.

Charisma enhances a paladins healing power, self-protective abilities, and turn undead ability.

A Wisdom score of 14 or higher is required to use the most powerful paladin spells, and a score of 11 or higher is required to cast any paladin spells at all.

The paladins class skills are Concentration, Diplomacy, and Heal.  The paladin class doesnt focus greatly on skill points, as she has a host of special abilities and spells.

With the skill points she does have, Concentration is probably the best choice, since she can use it to cast spells (after 4th level) even while shes being attacked.

Diplomacy allows the character to interact more effectively with NPCs, and Heal benefits from her role as a backup healer between combats and during rest.

With any extra skill points, Intimidate and Spot make good choices for a paladin.
As a paladin, common feat choices related to offense include Power Attack, Weapon Focus, Stunning Blow, and Point Blank Shot.

Dodge and Combat Expertise are excellent if you meet the Dexterity or Intelligence minimums and want to boost your defense.  Shield Mastery, Tower Shield Proficiency, or Improved Shield Bash are all good choices if you want to make a good use of a shield for defense as many paladins do.

Other good choices include any of the feats that add bonuses to skills your want to emphasize.

Paladins begin play with Aura of Good, Defensive Fighting, Heavy Armor Proficiency, Martial Weapon Proficiency, Medium Armor Proficiency, Shield Proficiency: General, Simple Weapon Proficiency, Smite Evil, Sneak, Sunder and Trip
Dwarves are stalwart creatures who revere duty, honor, and responsibility, so the path of the paladin is natural to them.  However, their low Charisma scores can pose a barrier to success, hurting both their saving throw bonuses and their ability to smite evil.
