Paul Hamm Talking With USA Today Reporter About the Medal
USA: Paul Hamm is'nt budging an inch. The american who won the mens all around gold medal in mens gymnastics, in a controversial fashion says despite indications third place finisher yang tay young, received a score lower then yang yearned, hamm is a true gold medalist.
Paul: I'm glad we are able to clear the air here and make sure that every one back in the US understands that I won the silver medal, cause I truely belive that I am the gold medalist. And once when the meet was over it's over.
USA: Paul, weighs the internatianal Gymnastics Federation for much of the controversy, he said for their decision to conduct a video tape review is a violation of face zone rules.
Paul: You just cant go back and review video tapes. Maybe if we go back and review it he could be knocked down into fourth place. If your gonna open the door to doing that then you can open the door to everything. That's why we have these rules in place.
USA: As for any pangs of guilt over the way he won the competition, Hamm says he does feel bad for Yang. He believes the South Koreans coaches made a mistake that ultimately led to their gymnist losing out for a chance of gold.
Paul: The reason why I feel bad for his is because his coaches made the wrong decision. They were responsible for doing that. Even in a football game, if the coaches dont see the problem they the coaches responsibility.
