| Between the 1500’s AD and the 1700’s AD the world went under enormous changes. The two main concepts during this time were the Renaissance and Enlightenment periods. The Renaissance was a period of individuality, imagination and innovation. During these time great painters, scientist and writers appeared. This includes the great writer William Shakespeare. The Renaissance took place mainly in the European countries, such as France, Britain, and England. While the Renaissance was continuing the Enlightenment era was also trudging forward. Much like the Renaissance, the Enlightenment was a time of knowledge. Science was born when Copernicus showed the earth revolved around the sun. Unfortunately people would not believe his theories and sculled him for these ideas. Copernicus gave an opening to other physicist. He allowed these scientist to bring forth there ideas with the knowledge that they are not alone. With this opening it allowed a man named Galileo to use the first telescope. While using this, he was able to find the first four satellites. He became known for his support of Copernicus’s theory as well. Continuing with European countries, Queen Elizabeth was the strongest ruler England had ever had. She was the virgin queen whom was married to England. She was bale to begin the royal exchange. Sir Thomas Gresham whom helped merchants fined secure markets for their products headed this. Elizabeth was faced with the continual attempts to remover her from power. This included the Roman Catholic nations whom desired for Mary Queen of Scots to take control. Elizabeth would not allow this and had Mary executed. King Philip then attacked her in 1588 the second of Spain. Elizabeth won the battle and continued her rain as the Queen of England for the rest of her life. On the other side of the country, England settled Jamestown Virginia in 1607. This became the first colony in America. This settlement was named after King James 1. As Europe continued with their growing countries, another growth appeared. China or the Ming Dynasty spent years producing the China Wall. This was a protection for China against Mongolis. Although they had this protection in 1640, the Ming Dynasty fell and became the Qing Dynasty. As battles raged on over the world, another historic battle accrued around the turn of the century. The Ottoman Empire was the strongest empire during the 1560’s. They desired more land and tried to attack Pope Pius V but her would not allow that. The Holy League commanded by John of Austria defeated Ottoman at the Battle of Lepanta. This concludes the main historical events that accrued between the 1500’s and the 1700’s |
