Personal Impressions

Hamlet
Hamlet is a troubled man who if faced with continues tragedies and other obstacles. He is a well-educated man whom uses strong vocabulary and mixed speech to show his strengths and the growing frustrations he faces. As the play progresses on you find that Hamlet is fond of plays both writing and acting as if he is in one. When he begins to realize that everyone thinks he is crazy, Hamlet begins to play into that part.
By this time we are not sure if he is just acting or if he is really going crazy. Soon Hamlet not only losses his father by dead, his mother by marriage, his friends from working with the king but Ophelia is lost to him because her family will not allow it and soon later her death. After realizing Hamlet has lost everything his mental stability was completely lost.

Ophelia
Ophelia is a lady who is being torn between her family and the one she loves. On one hand there is her families honor and respect, which is telling her to never be with Hamlet because he is a young prince. On the other hand there is Hamlet, the man who loves her but can’t be with her. With all this drama going on in her life she also begins to become mentally unstable. Soon after her father is killed by Hamlet Ophelia is killed when she falls into the river. It is unsure if she committed suicide but that is the main idea.

Claudius

Claudius is a very smart King. He was able to murder his brother and marry the queen with out anyone questioning the actions. Claudius was able to hold off any doubts until Hamlet came home. Claudius then turned on his mind to find a way to get Hamlet killed. He was smart when keeping Hamlet close but in the end all ended the same.

Gertrude
Gertrude is Hamlet’s mother and the Queen. She is one whom I feel hurt Hamlet the most. There was little respect left for her when she turned and married right after the death of he ex-husband. I believe that she was a very blind person. She never saw the signs that her only son Hamlet is in danger by her Claudius. Until right before the end she thought Hamlet was crazy but right before she died she realized that it was all a set up.

Guildenstern and Rosencrantz
These two gentle men are conniving, manipulative and deceitful people. They take the trust that was once theirs and twist it for their own good. I am speaking about these two twisting Hamlet’s heart in a way that should end their lives.

Horatio
Horatio is a young man who has faith in his friend and who will also stay beside him. Horatio had his doubts about Hamlet’s ideas but was always there for him. He was also very strong willed. By that I mean that at the end when Hamlet asked Horatio to live on and tell the stories Horatio agreed. This had to be hard considering everyone he knew had just died.

Leartes
Leartes is a gentle man who looks out for his family. He is a normal big brother who is making sure his little sister is properly taken care of. He is also a loving son who will seek revenge on the murder of his father. Leartes is an intelligent man whose life was cut short by his own hatred.

Gravedigger
An intelligent man who is able to twist the words of others and his own. You are able to see these things while he talks to Hamlet. This man has a soul that seems to be dead. After working with the dead his personality has been shaped about these poor corpuses.

Ghost
This is the ghost of Old Hamlet. While he was living he was continuously going. Leaving Hamlet to be brought up by the jester. He was a very powerful man and has faith in his son. His faith was shown when he asked his son to kill his murder. This was the only way for Old Hamlet to be released.
