I think I'm just going to
stick with Bishie Tales anyways these will be based on actual
stories but characters have been replaced, also these won't have any lemony
material in them, they're basically after lemon reading...ah well I'll shut up
and start the fic now. enjoy ^_^
Cupid & Psyche
Roman
Cupid: Kujaku from RG Veda
Psyche: Kurama from Yu Yu Hakusho
Venus: Kuja from FF9
Sister#1: Inaho from Master of Mosquiton
Sister#2: Akane from Ranma 1/2
There once lived a King and Queen blessed with two
daughters and one son. All three were lovely but the their son, Kurama,
was the most beautiful of all, oddly enough. So great was his beauty
that word spread out through the neighboring lands that he was
actually Kuja the God of beauty himself, living among mortals. Soon
people were traveling from far and wide to offer him gifts and prayers.
In spite of all this attention Kurama was unhappy, he grew very lonely
for as admired as he was no one dared to be in his company, his sister
Akane had long since married a fine young man from another kingdom
and Inaho was up to her ears in suitors seeking wealth and power but
no female or male alive approached him, so in this isolation he sought
solace in books and stories figuring it was better to live in the world of
mind than that of the heart. However word of Kurama's beauty
continued to spread, eventually all of Kuja's temples were deserted and
his statues stood ignored. But as famous as he was for being attractive
Kuja also housed a fierce temper, and soon grew furious that he may
be challenged by a mere mortal, each day he grew more bitter till his
tantrums were more than the other Gods could bear and they begged
his son to relieve them of the screaming. Kujaku knew this would end
up with a dirty job to do but even he tired of Kuja's continuous rage and
so asked his father what ailed him,"Oh, my dear son I have been
terribly wronged!! Some pathetic boy on earth is stealing my image and
my worshippers! You must avenge this insult to me, go kill him, this
very night I don't care how! stab him, choke him, gettim all blowed up--"
at this point another rant began and Kujaku was obliged to cover his
ears from the noise, killing was not his style but if his father so
desperately wanted vengeance perhaps he could tone it down a bit "um
how about I just make him fall in love with most nasty-ass creature in the
world would that work? "Kuja amazingly stopped mid rant; considered
then began to praise his son for finding a fate worse then death, Kujaku
sighed and wondered how the hell any women in their right mind
decided Kuja would make a good husband just as his Dad started the
victory dance...Eager to get the job over with and some well needed
silence, he made himself invisible and hastened to Kurama's chamber
where he found him fast asleep with a book still held in his hands, as
Kujaku readied a love arrow into his bow, Kurama turned in his sleep
facing him, needless to say Kujaku was shocked to see someone who
truly rivaled his own father in looks; long crimson colored hair spilled
on to the pillow and on the sweet featured face a smile still remained
from remaining memories of the book he'd just finished. In this sudden
shock Kujaku accidentally nicked himself with one of his own arrows
falling instantly in love, miserable he couldn't keep his fathers wish but
unable to do Kurama any harm he fled. The next morning Kurama
journeyed to Delphi to ask the Oracle of Clef whether it was his fate to
be alone "You will wed" the oracle answered "but to a creature
not of
this world, you must go to the top of the nearest mountain there you will
meet your true fate."Kurama returned to home and bid farewell to his
grieving family. "Surely, this creature can't be worse then a life of
loneliness "he said. Then accompanied by the mournful sounds of
Funeral songs and his family's tears, he climbed to the summit. True to
his brave words he awaited the arrival of his monstrous spouse. Quickly
a fog swirled around Kurama, and he felt the warm breath of Hayate,
the gentle west wind. He lifted him down the mountain and over its
treacherous rocks and laid him safely on a bed of flowers in a distant
Valley. Before him stood a palace the likes of which he had never seen
before. Stepping cautiously through the door way he found rooms filled
with every imaginable luxury, no need overlooked no detail forgotten. A
cheerful voice whispered "This House and everything it contains is
yours do hope you will be happy here" Kurama turned to see who had
spoken but there was no one to be seen in the room. That evening
refreshed and quite pleased to have found a enormous library within the
house, he entered the grand banquet hall, where a table was laid with
strange and wonderful dishes. He dined alone it wasn't the first time
anyway attended by invisible servants. Suddenly the torches sputtered
and the room was plunged into darkness. Kurama felt a pang of terror
but pushed it out of his mind, he knew his terrible spouse had arrived,
surprisingly the voice he heard was male but was anything but
frightening "No need to be afraid Kurama its just your new hubby, sorry
if thats awkward to you." "Well...its not so bad, where I come from
we
never had such a type of marriage, it was never even considered"
"Thats a shame" the voice continued "Your people don't know what
they're missing then" Kujaku softened his voice a little to make it sound
more enticing but it ended up sounding just ridiculous, Kurama
giggled at that finding the attempt amusing and although he did not
see his new husband's smile, he easily felt it penetrate the darkness
around them. "Soo... you like to read do you....?" Kujaku inquired
eager
to find out more about the one who owned his heart. " Yes, very
much.."
And thus the evening continued in this manner, each asking the other
questions their likes and dislikes, favorite color or tea and so on. By the
time morning came around Kujaku was gone, but Kurama knew he
would be back, and found himself looking forward to it, the feelings he
was experiencing were unlike anything he'd known before but he loved
it all the same. And so began Kurama's new life. Each day was filled
with new discoveries and each night was brightened by his husband's
company. He was only denied one thing and that was to see his dear
husband's image. Kurama teased and begged him but Kujaku never
faltered, saying that he'd prefer to wait until he was quite sure Kurama
could love him for who he was and not what he appeared to be.Kurama
was saddened by this lack of trust but did not let it show. Continuing to
grow accustomed to his new life, Kurama began to think often of his
family knowing they wept for him as lost. One day he asked if his
sisters might be brought to visit him. Although reluctant at first, Kujaku
was moved by his concern for his family and consented. But he warned
Kurama first, "Your sister Akane will only question you out of love but
Inaho will out of spite, tell neither anything about me or there will be hard
times in the future for us" with that his voice faded away, to the rising
of the sun. That very morning. Kurama called on Hayate to fetch his
sisters. Upon being reunited Akane was overcome with emotion
began crying how she'd missed him, and how if only she had her frying
pan with her she'd teach him a lesson for making her worry so much
Kurama sweat-dropped slightly Akane had her own "special" ways of
dealing with these things most including bodily harm of some sort,
Inaho on the other hand was busy shifting through rooms complaining
loudly that she didn't get finery this nice back at home followed by
more squawking at a chest of jewelry she'd discovered and proceeded
loot. As the day wore on Kurama showed his sisters all of the treasures
in his new home, and gave them plenty of gifts to bring back as proof
he was still alive and in good care, instead of being happy for him
though, each of his sisters grew more displeased with the situation,
Akane worried about the nature of her brother's new wife he had not
spoken of her once since they had entered the place, leading her to
wonder whether he was being cared for properly, Inaho on the other
hand was growing more and more envious of his good fortune, and felt
it unjust that he a boy should be blessed with greater beauty than
herself and now greater wealth and sought to find some unhappiness in
Kurama's new life, and began to ask about the absence of his wife.
"Where is she, why can't she come meet us? There's nothing wrong
with her is there? hmm?" Kurama remembered his husbands words
and did his best to skirt around the question but when Akane started in
asking whether or not he knew if his wife truly loved him, his control left
him. "My...my..husband treats me very well..." he began,
noticing the
looks of shock crossing his sisters faces before continuing "And...I can
find no fault in him except..." "Except what?!" snapped Inaho
gleeful she
had found fine opportunity to make Kurama's life unpleasent again "I....
I have yet to actually see him..." "AHA!!! then he is the creature
the
oracle promised!!! Your husband is really a monster!! " Inaho had now
quite cast aside the fact her brother was bound to another man and
went straight on to the point of never being seen, Akane after being
surprisingly silent after awhile joined in "Tonight while he's asleep you
have to look at him if he's a hideous beast you'll have to kill him before
he can get you, I'll not have my only brother eaten just because some
stupid oracle got you up on that mountain!!" Kurama tried to convince
his sisters that it couldn't possibly be that but they would not hear of it
and only repeated their warnings when Hayate came to take them back
That night Kurama did his best to ignore his sisters advice but the
mentioning of the oracle had brought back all his fears. When he was
sure his husband was asleep, he lit a lamp and slipped into his room
with a knife. As the lamplight flickered across his husbands face he
was astonished to find not a monster but Kujaku the beautiful God of
Love, shining black wings sprouted from his back and curled around
him as he slept his violet hair was unruly a few strands laying across
his fair face, in a moment of tenderness Kurama leaned forward to
brush those strands away, a bit of hot oil spilled from his lamp burning
Kujaku's shoulder. With a cry he awoke and saw the knife Kurama still
held. Sadly he told Kurama " Go home to your family...apparently you
still have that damned fear of me, I won't insist upon it." with that he
vanished. Miserable, Kurama returned to his old home. His sister
Akane consoled him but Inaho did not bother with little details like that
and quickly decked herself with her finest jewels, went to the mountain
Kurama had first climbed and started to demand for Hayate "OIIIII!!!
c'mon old windbags!! The ah...um..oracle sent me uh..yeah!! The oracle
and she says I'm the new bride of Kujaku, that he got tired of Kurama
an' all, so why doncha' be a nice spirit of the wind or whatever and take
me to him!! no sooner had those words left her lips than a swirling fog
surrounded her, she stepped into it expecting Hayate to bear her up,
but he was not awaiting her and she fell to her death on the rocks below
somewhere above the Mountain, Hayate scowls and flips her retreating
form the bird, "Yeah, like I'm gonna haul your ass up here..feh typical.."
Her disappearance distracted his parents and they quite forgot about
him and Akane all together. And although Akane had her husband
Ranma to keep her company, Kurama was left more alone than ever.
Desperate he prayed day after day to be reunited with Kujaku. When
his prayers went unanswered. He decided that he must go to the
temple of Kuja in the hopes of finding Kujaku. He did not know however
the danger he was putting himself in. Kujaku had fled back to his father
in pain over his burn wound, and Kurama's supposed betrayal, as he
tended to his son Kuja was more determined than ever to seek
revenge on the beautiful mortal. When Kurama arrived he was greeted
by Kuja himself who was obviously less than pleased to see him,
that and the little Kurama voodoo doll he was jamming needles in
was not working to his satisfaction. Composing himself somewhat
Kuja began, "First you presume yourself the finest piece of man meat
on the planet, then you hurt my precious son and return to snatch him
away from me again! These are grievous sins indeed, to gain my
forgiveness and Kujaku's love, you will have three tasks set before you
if you fail even one of them you will never see my son again, and as
payment for my miseries you will lose your life." With that he led
Kurama to a huge room filled with grain "Sort the grain here into four
piles barley, wheat, millet, and rice, if you cannot complete this task by
sunset your empty little head becomes my personal paperweight." As
the door shut behind him, Kurama tried to piece together a logical way
to do the impossible chore Kuja had set for him, but in the end no way
presented itself and Kurama sank to the floor in despair. Sadly he
stared at the cold stone floor curseing himself for not listening to
Kujaku's warning, but as he scolded, he noticed a few bands of ants
passing through on their way to the fields. He knew it was foolish
to speak to insects but in this situation what was there to lose? "ah..
pardon, I notice you are very careful workers are you not?" strangely the
ants stopped their progression and looked at him, Feeling more
confident Kurama continued "If you would help me sort this grain, I'll
gladly share it with you." That certainly got their attention, soon ants
were moveing about all over the place seperateing grains and sorting
each to its own pile. In the end they only took a handful as a reward
leaving a very relieved Kurama to rest and await his next task. At dusk.
Kuja returned struggling along with a sharpened battle axe, he was
quite sure Kurama had failed and was perfectly prepared to take that
head as a prize, upon opening the door though he was horrified,
everywhere he looked there were neat piles of the grain he'd gone to all
the trouble of mixing, and the leaning against a wall was that detestable
boy patiently waiting for him, livid with fury he tossed the axe to the side
and cried "Since you've done such a fine job sorting I'm sure you'll
have
no problems sleeping in here tonight!!" Turning in a huff he slammed
and bolted the door, a action for which Kurama was thankful later on
when Kuja went to tantrums and threw fantastic fits in the next room
over. At the crack of dawn the next day Kurama was roughly awakened
and dragged to the door by a very irate Kuja, biting his lip and trying to
force a smile he told Kurama his new task "This one is simple enough
for you...In a grove beyond the river you will find a herd of Chocobo
with golden feathers, bring me an armful of their feathers or I'll make
good on my promise" he picked up the axe from last night with a
great deal of difficulty to prove his point, before Kurama could even
get out the door he was given a boot to the butt that sent him rolling
down the temple steps, and feeling very sore, his only relief being he
had an easier job this time around. Shaking off the pain he set off
immediately taking no notice of the long peals of maniacal laughter
drifting from the temple disturbing all living creatures within a two mile
radius. When he finally reached the river he was surprised to see the
entire herd only a couple feet away from him. As he debated the best
way to cross the river without them taking notice of him, he came
across a young moogle, which had fallen from its nest, carefully picking
it up he returned it to its nest. In gratitude the moogle's mother warned
Kurama "Don't try and get the feathers now, some of these Chocobos
are rabid or something and freak out at even the smallest things, wait
till midday, when they leave the riverbanks for the shade of the woods
then you can grab all the feathers you want from the bushes." Listening
to the her advice all went as foretold. When Kurama returned safely
with his arms full of golden feathers, Kuja was beyond furious, masking
his urge to bitchslap the redhead with a calm face he said casually,
"For your third task, take this box to Queen Hotaru in the Makai.Tell her
I'm tired of failing at my attempts to destroy a certain mortal brat and
need a bit of wisdom for myself." Now recovered from his wounds
Kujaku had learned of his father's many attempts to kill Kurama and
how Kurama had borne them all so far, this was the proof he had
needed to know the extents of Kurama's love for him and now wanted
him back more than ever. Although greatly afraid of what could befall
him in the land of Makai, Kurama hurried on his way the sooner he got
this last dangerous task out of the way, the sooner he could see his
beloved, he had just deftly found the entrance to the dank underworld,
when a familiar, loving voice called out to him, "Not so fast sweets
this is Makai you know, it won't be that simple getting in and out again"
almost not believing his own ears Kurama turned swiftly to see the
transparent form of Kujaku before him "Oh God! I've missed you!!"
he cried running to give him a long overdue hug, but in vain he grasped
only air "My father's power still keeps us separate, although we cannot
touch I can still give you instructions how to reach Hotaru's palace and
return again, First you must not stop for anything, speak to no one but
Hotaru and eat nothing no matter how hungry you become, most of all
no one can find out you are from the land of the living" with that he
handed him two gold coins and six sticks of pokey "You will know what
to do with these in due time, please don't forget anything I've told you
if you do, you will never return" with those words his form evaporated
like mist. Determined to get Kujaku back, Kurama stepped through the
mouth of the cave that concealed the path to Makai slowly he made his
way down the steep trail, stopping only when he reached the dark
waters of the River Styx. There he let the bald ferryman Rude pluck a
gold coin from his lips as payment for his journey to the opposite bank.
He knew that if he use his hands to pay Rude, then he would know he
was alive and would not allow him to cross the river. Once he reached
the opposite bank, he heard a scream of eerie familiarity, it was his
sister Inaho broken and bloody from her painful fall from the mountains
peak and angry her plan had failed so now she was stuck in the land of
Makai in her shrill voice she called to him "Kuraaaamaaaa!!! Help me!!
Don't you even care what happens to your older sister?! Would you
really leave me here?!" Though saddened by the fact his sister was
trapped here he knew he could stop for nothing and she was already
dead there was nothing to do for her. Drowning out her cries as best he
could he moved on wishing that Kuja had not chosen such a horrid
place as a testing ground. When he finally reached the gates to the
palace he came across the fierce bishounen Sesshamaru quickly
feeding him three pokey, he was allowed to enter. Once inside Kurama
found Hotaru had set a banquet in his honor, but he ate nothing, only
giving the box to a young girl with royal purple eyes whom he knew
simply by the presence she brought that she was Hotaru Queen of the
Dead. As he waited for her to return he could still here the cries of his
sister, and the heated argument she was engaging in with Rude, it
so caught his attention it only seemed like moments before the Queen
returned smiling warmly and pressing the box back into his hands.
Makeing sure he thanked Hotaru for her kindness, Kurama began his
journey back. He fed Sesshamaru his pokey, and as he reached the
riverbank he caught sight of Inaho being thrown far away into the
river by a now pissed beyond reason Rude, who upon catching sight of
Kurama resumed his monotone _expression and coolly took the other
coin from his lips. That was the last time Kurama ever saw Inaho again,
and he did not dwell on it as he crossed the river and scrabbled up
the rocky path again. Soon with great joy he stepped back into the light
of the living. Happy that his last and most difficult task was over
he
started back towards Kuja's temple. As he walked looking at the box,
he wondered if Kuja would really miss a little knowledge, "Perhaps I
should just take some of it so I won't make the same mistake of
mistrusting Kujaku again." it seemed like a good idea at the time,
anxiously he opened it hoping Kuja would not find him and punish
him
but when he looked inside it was empty of wisdom it only contained the
sleep of the dead. Kurama suddenly felt very drowsy the world around
him blurred and he fell to the ground unconscious.Back at Kuja's
temple
Kuja was simply delirious with happiness, finally that disgusting pretty
boy had gone down all thanks to his own genius, "Like I would need any
more brilliance than I have right now!! Hah! score one for meeeee!!!"
Kujaku on the other hand felt his own immortal heart stop at the moment
Kurama fell, now that the three tasks were completed he was free of
Kuja's power and flew to his side. "Kurama...don't you dare leave me
like this" he murmured grasping a cold and unnaturally pale hand in his
"It wasn't supposed to be this way.. I know I should of had more faith in
you but...I...Gods I'm so sorry Kurama..." it was not often Gods gave into
blatant displays of their emotions possibly excepting Kuja, but the pain
of losing his first and only true love was more than enough to rip
Kujaku's boundaries away and leave him exposed and heartbroken.
Admist his mourning he noticed a slight condensation on Kurama's
eyelids, his pain slightly diminished by curiosity he looked closer
realization dawning on him the cure to Kurama's predicament. Wiping
the droplets away Kujaku carefully let them fall back into the box and
closed the lid tightly. A warm glowing feeling filled him as he saw color
slowly flood back into Kurama's cheeks and breathe once again stirred
in him.Taking the once frigid hand in his Kujaku woke him with a kiss
emerald eyes locking into amethyst, Kurama could hardly believe the
sight that greeted him, his husband leaned over him a smile that
betrayed his thoughts settled on his mouth. "Morning sleepy head, have
a good one?" Kurama glared slightly that he could make light of such
a trying ordeal but before he could form single word of retort Kujaku's
lips were on his again gently coaxing them open, to which after a
moment of stubbornness Kurama willingly responded, when they broke
broke for air Kurama was the first to speak "Please forgive me
Kujaku,
you were right about my sisters, I should have listened to you." to
which Kujaku responded "Its my fault really I shouldn't of had such little
trust in you dear one, please... return with me to Olympus, there
judgments are not based on how only if the love itself is real, do say
you will " smiling up at him Kurama gave his consent, at that wasting
no time to get as far away from his fathers influence as possible
Kujaku took to the air holding his sweetheart close and flew straight
to Olympus. Suzaku the grandfather of all Gods was pleased
that Kujaku had chosen so well in a mate and promptly summoned the
whole court to witness their eternal binding, he presented Kurama with
a cup of ambrosia saying "Drink this child and become immortal, may
your souls be one" Kurama gratefully did so, feeling a brief period
of elation as his mortality left him and as proof of the deed silver wings
sprouted from his shoulder blades, thus marking him as one of the
divine assembly. For rest of time Kurama and Kujaku lived blissfully
in each others company wanting nothing more of the world. But
what of Kuja you say? Well, let this be a lesson to little priss pots if
you're a bitch to life, life's gonna be a bitch to you, shortly after
Kurama's initiation Kuja received the box he had used to try and seal
his fate, of course it didn't really occur to him the harm of opening a
box that held the sleep of the dead until he already had and although it
did not make him a vegetable it gave him a horrible case of the
wrinkles which to this very day he hasn't ironed out. Oh well so sad too
bad buh'
