| Devil's Punchbowl Falls | ||||||
| This is a wonderful place even without a waterfall. When you visit this wonder you will notice that something just isn't normal here. This "bowl is almost perfectly round with the layers of rock of the Niagara Escarpment clearly visible. How could this small creek have created such a wonder? Also another highlight of this place is the large cross that stands over the gorge and also acts as a large outlook over Stoney Creek and Hamilton. The only major downside is that its takes very little for this falls to dry up so if you wish to see it with a nice flow visit the site after a snow melt. This is a perfect plunge ribbon falls that has a nice pool at the bottom. Its not as high as Tews falls but because of the other geography it makes it seem as high. Directions Take Hamilton Bound QEW exit at Centenial Parkway (hwy20) Head southbound up the Niagara Escarpment. Right at the top there is a Road called Ridge Rd turn left here. This can sometimes be tricky so for an alternate keep south and Hwy 20 till you come to Mud St turn left here drive approx 1km to first Rd E turn left here. Drive back to Ridge Rd turn left. Drive for about 3/4 a km and watch for parking lot of Right hand side. |
