Game 1:

Dawn Vanderhorst pitched the win in 8 innings as the Pontiacs defeated the St. Catharines Angels 3 to 2.  Elizabeth Verbeem scored the both the first run of the game and the winning run in the 8th inning on rbi singles by Riekie Dutcher.  Riekie Dutcher also scored a run in the 4th inning after walking on an rbi by Jen Calbeck.

Game 2:

Dianne Trask pitched the win with help from Jenny Kells as the Hamilton Pontiacs defeated the Clarkson Juniors 5 to 4 by scoring the winning run in the bottom of the 7th inning.  Riekie Dutcher scored 3 runs for the Pontiacs, including the winning run, going 3 for 4 at the plate.  Elizabeth Verbeem and Shari Young helped on the scoreboard by scoring one run each and going 2 for 4 at the plate.

Game 3:

Jenny Kells pitched the win as the Pontiacs defeated the St. Catharines Juniors 3 to 2 by scoring the go ahead run in the top of the 7th inning by a lead-off triple by Riekie Dutcher with a key rbi by Debbie Carter.  Debbie Carter also was the tying run in the 5th inning after Dianne Trask singled and scored.  The St. Catharines Juniors were quick off the mark scoring 2 runs in the first inning but were then held scoreless by the Pontiac defense.

Game 4:

Grimsby defeated the Hamilton Pontiacs 3 to 2 by scoring 2 runs in the 7th inning.  The Pontiacs led the game 2 to 1 on the batting of Dawn Vanderhorst and Jen Calbeck who were each 1 for 3 and scored once.  Jenny Kells took the loss on the mound for the Pontiacs.

Game 5:

Jenny Kells pitched the win as the Pontiacs defeated the Glanbrook Juniors 15 to 6.  Kris Gordon led at the plate going 4 for 5 and scoring three times, including one home run.  Lori Kostur also helped at the plate going 2 for 4 and scoring twice.  Shannon MacKenzie also went 4 for 5 and scored once with Jenny Kells helping her own cause and going 3 for 5 and scoring twice.

Game 6:

The Pontiacs defeated the Glanbrook Intermediates 10 to 0 in 5 innings behind the pitching of Jenny Kells.  Krissy Sebastian led at the plate going 3 for 3 and scoring twice with Kris Gordon also being solid going 2 for 3 and scoring once.  Shari Young also helped the cause going 2 for 4 and scoring once.

Game 7:

Dawn Vanderhorst helped her own cause by going 4 for 5 and scoring twice with 2 rbi’s and pitching the win against the Townsend Intermediates 11 to 1 in 6 innings.  Kathy Sitak also helped at the plate going 2 for 3 and scoring once.  The Pontiacs bats were solid with Debbie Carter, Lori Kostur and Shari Young also going 3 for 4 at the plate.

Game 8:

Dawn Vanderhorst took the loss as the Pontiacs were defeated 3 to 1 by the Port Colborne Intermediates.  Johanna Malisani scored the only Pontiac run in the 1st inning on a base hit and an rbi double by Riekie Dutcher.  The Commettes scored two runs in the 2nd and a home run in the 5th.

Game 10:

Jenny Kells pitched the shutout 5 to 0 win against the Fisherville Fossils.  Kris Gordon led at the plate going 3 for 4, scoring twice with a triple.  Christine Bassett also was solid at the plate going 2 for 3 and scoring twice.

Game 11:

Dianne Trask pitched the 7 to 1 win against the St. Catharines Juniors.  Shannon MacKenzie and Lori Kostur led at the plate going 2 for 3 and scoring twice each.  Jen Calbeck as also solid at the plate going 2 for 3.

Game 12:

The Hamilton Pontiacs defeated the Hamilton Juniors 1 to 0 by scoring the winning run in the bottom of the 6th inning.  Dawn Vanderhorst pitched the win striking out 2 and giving up 5 hits.  Johanna Malisani walked in the top of the 6th inning and scored on a hit by Christine Bassett.

Hamilton Pontiacs were defeated 6 to 5 by S. Catharines as the Angels scored the winning run in the bottom of the 7th inning.  Dianne Trask pitched the loss.  Dawn Vanderhorst led at the plate for the Pontiacs going 2 for 4 and scoring once.  Christine Bassett also helped the cause going 2 for 3 and scoring once.

Dawn Vanderhorst pitched the shutout win against the Grimsby Intermediates by a score of 6 to 0.  Christine Bassett led at the plate going 3 for 3 and scoring once with Kris Gordon going 2 for 3 and scoring twice and Lori Kostur going 2 for 2 and scoring once.

Riekie Dutcher and Elizabeth Verbeem led at the plate going 4 for 4 and each scoring three times.  Lori Kostur also went 3 for 3 with a home run and scoring twice.

Jenny Kells pitched the shutout win for the Pontiacs behind the batting of Riekie Dutcher who went 2 for 3 and scored twice and Kris Gordon who was 2 for 4 and scored twice. 

 

 

Tournament called due to weather conditions for the weekend – rain resulted in all games being washed out – no champion declared.
