Wife of
James
MORRIS
DIED
July 7, 1847
Aged 37
yrs.

This photo was taken in 1978 by my father, Russell S. Morris.  When he started researching our family 25 years ago, all he knew was his great-grandfather was named James Morris, and that he lived in Monroe County, before he moved to West Virginia.  Finding his great-grandmother Mary Morris was the first major discovery he made that he was able to confirm.
Mary was the daughter of John Dillon and Rachel Hamilton.  She was born about 1810 in Greene County, Pennsylvania.  The Dillon family moved to Monroe County, Ohio around 1835, and she married James Morris in 1836.  James Morris was the son of William Morris and Ann Wells.  They had previously lived in the same area in Greene County as the Dillons, before moving to Monroe County somewhere between 1812 and 1820.

Mary gave birth to twin girls on August 16, 1837-- Ann was named after James' mother and Rachel was named after Mary's mother.  On November 2, 1842, Mary gave birth to twin boys-- William was named after James's father and John was named after Mary's father.
