Hamilton Dillon was born about 1823 in Greene County, Pennsylvania, the son of John Dillon and Rachel Hamilton.  The Dillon family moved to Monroe County, Ohio around 1835.  Hamilton Dillon married Elizabeth Denbow in Monroe County around 1847, and they had one son, Vincent E. Dillon, born in 1847 or 1848.  After Hamilton's early death, Elizabeth remarried in 1851.

On December 16, 1839, Hamilton purchased 33.8 acres of land from his brother, Peter Dillon, in Monroe County, SW quarter of Range 7, Township 6, Section 6.  On January 18, 1840, Hamilton also purchased the adjoining 40 acres from his brother Peter.  This was in the NW and SW quarters of Range 7, Township 6, Section 5.  Hamilton sold this second tract of land back to his brother Peter on April 17, 1843.

On April 1, 1847, Hamilton purchased Lot 30 in the town of Lewisville in Monroe County from John and Isabella Lafferee.  A little over a year later, Hamilton and Elizabeth Dillon sold this lot to Frederick Newhart.  Hamilton died five months later, in January 1849.
