| T.W's German School Adventure Part II First day excitement, a new rival appears T.W: Hamha! T.W here, I had a great first day in Rothenberg, I met new a new friend, saw an almost new friend again and was accepted into Stravland with open arms. I can't wait to start my first day. Tuesday The next day in T.W and Kiki's suite as the two prepare for their first day- Kiki: Do I have everything T? T.W: Yeah it all looks good, I just have one more thing to put in my schoolbag. Soon they were ready to go, but when they check the clock, they found it was only- 5:30 AM T.W: I think we were so exciting we never thought to check the clock. Kiki: Well we should be up by this time anyway. T.W: Well now that were ready for school, we can enjoy a nice breakfast. Soon after a nice breakfast it was 7:44, now it was time to head out for school and they headed down the classes area- T.W: So what classes did you choose? Kiki: I'm taking Mr. Russell first and then Cook works with Miss Jean. T.W: Me too, so we will share some classes. Soon they reached Kitchen 10-A, they sat at the same stations they were yesterday. Soon the other students arrived and the bell rang and Mr. Russell walked in with his usual pace and stood in front of his desk. 8:00 AM Sharp Mr. Russell: Morning class, today's your first day at Stravland so I expect you to show me your best. Today we'll learn the aspects of French cuisine. First up, a demonstration. Rummel will you do the honors? Rummel stood up from his place in the front row, he had a bit of a sneaky look on his face. Rummel: Of course Mr. Russell. He went up to the chalkboard and started writing some stuff down- T.W: Rummel? I wonder what he has in store for me. Rummel: The history of French ascendancy in the culinary arts can be traced to the Italians. As the 15th century dawned, the highest of Renaissance culture flourished at Florence. Prosperity that reached beyond the very small royal population lent itself to dining as entertainment, in which common foods were decorated and flavored not for hiding food, which was turning bad, but for emphasizing those flavors allowed by improved storage techniques and new discoveries in food preparation. While he continued, T.W and Kiki wrote notes in their books and talked to each other- T.W: He talks a lot of history but not enough about heart. Kiki: Yeah, it's hard to get what he means. Rummel: So any questions? T.W raised his hand- Mr. Russell: Yes T.W- T.W: Well I understand were Rummel is coming from but the way he says, it is a little too formal. Kiki: Yeah, there's not enough heart. Mr. Russell: You might have something here, why don't you come up and explain it. So that's just what they did- T.W: Well in my opinion French cuisine makes me think of well thought out and often provocative ideas. It's known for its elegance and style, and even a little quirkiness. Kiki: But it all comes together into what we know as French cuisine, and not just things like, crepes, snails, and brie. T.W: Not at all, most recently we've discovered that many cuisines like French and Japanese meld together, for example, you can make dessert sushi with crepes in substitute for seaweed and whipped cream, and fruit instead of rice is a great example. Everyone applauded and got down more notes. Mr. Russell: That's a great way of looking at things. You two make a great team. You may take your seats. As they returned to their stations aside each other, Rummel looked at them with jealousy. Mr. Russell: Now let's get started- He pulls down today's recipe on the clipboard. Mr. Russell: Today I'm going to teach you time based cooking, in any restaurant be it fast food or caf, and there'll be a time when it's a rambunctious day. You need to learn to make something challenging in a short but fair time limit, today you'll make a 3-course meal consisting of Vegetable stew, bread and a dessert of your choice. You have 1 hour starting in 4 minutes so get what you need. So while everyone got what they needed, Rummel got to thinking. Soon time started and everyone was working hard to complete their assignment. There wasn't a time to rest in order to meet the deadline. T.W: Boy this is hard work. Kiki: Yeah, I didn't know this would be so hard. Soon right at the buzzer they finished their work and plated it up for Mr. Russell, he sampled each one judged it with great care, and soon he got to Kiki's creation. Kiki: I made a three course meal of Vegetable soup, a broiled trout, and a chocolate-covered rice ball for desert. Mr. Russell: Well done Kiki, it's like what you and T.W were discussing earlier. Many different cultures can mend. Kiki: Thank you sir. Then it was Rummel's turn- Rummel: I made French Onion soup, Roasted Sweet potatoes, and Cheesecake. Mr. Russell: Not bad Rummel, but you need to bring out more of your soul into it. (Disappointed) Rummel: Yes, sir. At last, it was T.W's turn- T.W: I've created Vegetable and Apple stew, Fruit salad with honey dressing and a Carob covered soft pretzel. Mixing the French with the whimsical choice of my fruit salad to the famous German soft pretzel topped with my special Carob sauce makes for a well blended meal that's unique. Mr. Russell: Very well executed T.W, I like the way you think. For the rest of the class they learned more about French cuisine and T.W and Rummel tried to stay one step ahead of each other. Soon two hours had passed and the bell rang. Mr. Russell: Well that's all for today, tomorrow we continue our discussion of French cuisine and on Friday they'll be a quiz. Therefore, the students left the room with the last one out closing the door behind him, Mr. Russell was at his desk and let out a big sigh. Meanwhile in the halls- T.W: So you're heading to Cook works right? Kiki: Yep and then I'm off to Housekeeper etiquette. T.W: So I guess we'll be apart awhile? Kiki: Yeah but we'll see each other at lunch and I think I have more classes with I'll check later. Soon they reach Cook works just before the bell rang and took their seats. 10:00 AM Everyone wondered where the teacher is when she finally arrived closing the door behind her. Jean: Good morning, everyone, I'm Miss Jean, and I'll be your Cook works teacher. T.W: Jean is that you? Jean: T.W? She walked up to him- Jean: Why it is you, I never saw my attendance sheet until today and I still couldn't believe it. T.W: When did you start working here? Jean: I've worked here for 3 years for extra money, but this is the first time I knew a student beforehand. T.W: I was invited to come here and this will help further see my dream. Jean: Well I know you'll do well here. T.W: Thanks. You see Cook works was a class about discovering new cooking gadgets and reviewing old ones, at the end of the week they have a quiz of the 5 cooking gadgets they talked about. Since T.W and Kiki just started today, she gave them a quick review of the first gadget of the week. Soon the bell rang and class was over. Jean: That's all for today class, see you tomorrow. Everyone left and headed for their next class- T.W: So I guess this is where we split up. Kiki: Yeah, but don't worry. I checked my schedule and our next class together is Germen cuisine with Madame Fonnelchello. That's after lunch. T.W: Cool, then I'll see you later. So they head their separate ways and head off to their next class 10:30 AM- Coffee house Intensive 101 Everyone was sitting by a large roaster and what seemed to be a caf style setup when a brawny ham-gal appeared. Mrs. Armstrong: Well Good morning my pupils, welcome to Coffee house Intensive 101. This is where you learn the basics of producing what in your minds is the perfect cup of coffee, from knowing where to get the finest beans, to roasting them in just the right way. The point is to follow the basics but let loose and make it your own. So today will get started by drawing up the history of coffee. Therefore, as she talked they took notes and thought she seemed a little intimidating she sweetly answered questions and all soon became clear. Meanwhile in Kiki's Class 5 minutes earlier- 5 min ago Ruby: I'm Ruby and this is Housekeepers etiquette. I'll teach you the basics, and hopefully not all you need to know about housekeeping, and while most of you will become maids this helps running a home less stressful. She showed everyone about the many aspects of cleaning and keeping a home in shape, she answered most of the usual questions and things seemed to go well. Soon both classes had ended and it was lunchtime, T.W and Kiki sat next to each other and she invited someone else over. 12:00 Noon Kiki: This is my new friends T.W, T.W this is my new friend Abby. T.W: It's nice to meet you. Abby: Likewise. Kiki: We met in Housekeepers etiquette. We flashback to a little while ago- Kiki was better learning to use an iron and saw Abby struggling with her knitting. She over to see if she could help- Kiki: Hey there, can I help you with that? Abby: If you can. She then takes what she's knitted so far and fixed it up for her. Kiki: There you are. You just missed a few stitches. Hands it back to her- Abby: Thanks, I'm Abby. Kiki: I'm Kiki, do you want some company? Abby: Sure. The flashback ends with them knitting together. Kiki: And before you know, we've weaved a friendship. T.W: That's great; well I'm digging in to my lunch now. That's when T.W pulled out a large sandwich. Kiki: Is that- T.W: Yep and Obrillo, you left it in the fridge so I thought I could have it. I hope you don't mind. Kiki: No that's okay, I wonder were it went? Abby: Wait a minute, you two live together? T.W: Yeah we share a suite upstairs. Kiki: But it's not like what you're thinking, we have out own separate areas. Abby: Oh, that's all. T.W: Besides, I have someone special waiting back home. Kiki: Yeah? Abby: Come on dish! T.W: Well. Therefore, he tells them about Hakeru, what they've shared, and what they nearly lost that positively melted Kiki and Abby's hearts though they wouldn't show it. Kiki: Now I remember. She was in your story about your trip to Paris. T.W: Yes, that's right. Abby: You've been to Paris too? You have to tell me that story! Just then the bell rang- T.W: Lunch is over already? Well we better get going. Kiki: Yeah, what's your next class? Abby: German cuisine. T.W: No way, that's us too. Abby: Then we'll have to sit together. Therefore, they quickly rushed off and made it German cuisine and sat at a group of three desks together, soon everyone else arrived and the teacher walked in. 1:00 PM Madame Fonnelchello: Guten tag everyone. I'm Madame Fonnelchello and I'll be teaching you the joys of German cuisine. Can anyone named some of the foods that Germany is famous for. Abby raised her hand- Abby: Sauerkraut? Kiki raised her hand- Kiki: Beer? Another student raised her hand- Student: German sausage-Apple bake. T.W raised his hand- T.W: Pretzels. Madame Fonnelchello: All correct, but today you'll learn things about German food you might not have known, so pay attention. She explained much about Germany and its history in food as well as in general. She was very kind and even brought some of her family's special soft pretzels to share with everyone. Soon her class was over and the next one was just as thrilling as they were once again together. 2:00 PM - Free period They were in a large kitchen space. T.W: Well I'm glad we have free period together, what should we do? Abby: I know, let's go do some shopping, there's a new store that opened, T.W: But we have to stay in the school? Kiki: Nope, during free period you can leave the school just as long as you come back before your next class. T.W: Then let's got for it! So they go for a round of shopping and had a great, they quickly hurried back just at the bell for their next class- 3:00 PM (At her desk) Ms. Rukina: Afternoon class, I'm Ms. Rukina and this is culinary history. Here you'll learn interesting facts about how many foods and cuisines came to be, this is a no slacking class so pay close attention. In addition, she meant no slacking as she gave them much difficult work, what's more, Rummel was in this class, and he wanted to show T.W up for what took place in Mr. Russell's class. Soon it was over and were given a small stack of homework to do later on. Finally, the last class was Pysh Ed, which everyone had to take, they wanted to keep their chefs in the making in shape and not just the students the teachers as well. It was hard but our trio made it through with shining colors. Soon their first day of school is over and they all head over to T.W and Kiki's suite for some well needed refreshment. Abby: Krump, krump, krump. These waffles are the best. T.W: Yeah, I bought them at Orichio's, they are very good. Kiki: Yeah I'm glad you saved them. Abby: So now, can you tell me about your trip to Paris? T.W: Sure, now let's see. It all started when my friend Bijou was. Soon after Abby, left for home and T.W cleared away the dishes. T.W: Well this sure was a busy day. Kiki: Yeah and I'm sure tomorrow will be even busier, but in a good way. T.W: Yeah. Preview of next chapter T.W: It's hard to believe a whole month has passed since I got here. Kiki: A whole month? That means- Both: Final exams, gulp. Rummel: Feeling nervous are we, well just know I'm coming out on top. Abby: We'll see Rummel! T.W: Next time A month has passed, Mid-term battle! Kiki: This could get messy. Now for the next part I'm speeding up to a month later at mid-terms, please review!! |
