The Film Begins with one of the finest examples of camera work today, as it slowly follows the soft floating of a Feather in the wind. The soft tappings of the keys of a piano enter our bodies just like the film is entering us personally. This is a taster for what's to come. The Feather lands at the feet of a man and we can quickly determine the mans character. He is wearing worn out shoes with a suit which just doesn't go and we can make out that this is Forrest Gump. This Movie in my Eyes wasn't hyped up as much as it should have been, although this misfortune may increase the feelings we have towards the film and ultimately towards Forrest and help create a wonderful film that shall be remembered through many generations. Tom Hanks plays Forrest Gump, a man with unparralled intellect yet held back by the physical disability to his legs. The film is seen through Forrest's Eyes as he Casually tells his life story spanning three decades on a park bench. As a child he is Restrained by a harness on his legs due to the poor condition of them. His friend, Jenny, who he firsts meets on a bus (The bus features Prominently throughout the film) is what most of the film is about, with Forrest loving and wanting her for years. As the years Pass, Forrest's Pass Times and hobbies change from Football Player, Vietnam War Hero, Shrimp Tycoon, White House and Finally he ends up with his first love. The film is a combination of many genres, we have the sports action, we have a representation of War which in itself is disturbing yet Comical. The lips of Bubba and the script work of Eric Roth make this film fly by considering it is on for a good 137 Minutes. The film also deals with triumph after disaster. The Death of his mother creates a sinking feeling in all of us, yet this isn't the part of the film that created a swimming pool of the cinema but when he is talking to Jenny's Grave. This film is a great movie and will always stand the test of time. Tom Hanks offers another polished role and may he continue.
