The Hamden Fathers Basketball Association opened its
2008-2009 season on Friday December 5, 2008 with exhibition games from both our
9/10 boys and 12/14 girls leagues at the new Hamden Middle school. We also had our first regular season 11/12 boys game. The first
game of the night was a 9/10 game between the Hamden Greenies and Splash Car
Wash. The Greenies were lead by Nick DeGiacomo, Eric Lloyd and Riley Griffin; while Splash was highlighted by Marcus
Jackson, Sean Brown and Andrew Rice. Our
next game was the first 11/12 game of the season with Primo Pizza winning over
Sorrento’s Pizza. TJ Walters, Kyle Waznis and Jakim Dease led Primo, while AJ Brown-Ortiz, Gibron
Okar and Joshua Thompson stood out for
Sorrento’s. To finish out the evening we
had action from the girls 12-14 league. The Hamden Greenies defeated Bruno Massaro 22 -12.

9- 10 Boys
In the HFBA 9-10 Boys league for Saturday December 6,
2008 the Hamden Greenies were defeated by Batters Box 15 – 7. Batters Box was lead by Stanley Arrington
with 6 and Khiry Oliver with 4 points. The Greenies were supported by Kwadir Delgado-McIntyre and Ken Collins. NewAlliance Bank
was victorious over Eli’s Pizza 17 – 6.
Dylan Bailey, Kyle Fox and Dominic Marquand each had 2 points for NewAlliance while Juwan Weston
and Anees Patwa led
Eli’s. Town Fair Tire was victorious
over Splash Car Wash 14 – 6. Ty Hubbard
had 8 points and Latrelle Alston had 4 to lead Town
Fair, Derek
Sims and Marcus Jackson each had 2 for Splash.
Hamden Auto Parts wins over DiSorbo’s
Bakery. The Auto Parts were lead by Tarik Black, Demetrius Burgess and Muhammed
Akhdar, while DeSean Schwen, Jamar Richardson and Noah
Carroll helped support DiSorbo’s.
11- 12 Boys
In the HFBA 11-12 Boys League the Unitas
Club came back in the fourth quarter to defeat Kingdom Empowerment 26 –
22. Unitas was
lead by Matt Hamilton with 10 points and Jordon Cerino
with 8; while Ahmed Hassan had 10 pints and DJ Fowlin
scored 4. Fitch St Getty pours it on in the second half to squeeze by Primo
Pizza 23 – 21. Fitch St was lead by KiShawn Delgado-McIntyre with 9 points and Richard Grant
with 8. TJ Walters had 15 and Kyle Waznis had 2 to lead Primo.
Ercolano Cleaning was victorious over
Sorrento’s Pizza 29 - 12. Ercolano was lead by Robert Brown with 12 and Josiah Reynolds with 6. Sorrento’s was lead by Xavier Ward with 4
points and Joshua Thompson with 2.

In the season opener, JD Environmental led by Ashley Arroyo’s 8 points, defeated Hamden Town House 14-8. Also scoring for JD Environmental were Lauren Browning 4 points and Avaree Carmona 2 points. Leading the way for Hamden Town House were Jessica Taylor, Asha Hall, Kayla Venditto and Ryenne Carpenter all with 2 points each.
In a thrilling and exciting game, Janelle Cooper hit
a jumper in the second overtime to give NewAlliance
Bank a 21-19 lead and they held on for a 21-20 victory over Apex Pharmacy and
Homecare. Cooper led NewAlliance Bank with 15 points
while Abby McVerry added 4 points and Hailey Trasacco had 2 points. Leading the way for Apex Pharmacy
and Homecare was Lauren Singleton with 7 points. Also scoring for Apex was
Charity Hammond with 6 point, Domini’que Burgess 4 points,
Adaobi Okoro 2 and Veronica
Nyantakyi 1 point.

Nicole Anderson had a game high 20 points to lead Partyka Chevrolet to a 34-25 victory over Bruno Massaro and Sons. Also scoring for Partyka was Danielle Wendland 6 points, Mikaela Canning and Amani Richardson with 4 points each. Leading the way for Bruno Massaro and Sons was April Uzzle with 10 points, Charleese Smith 9 points and Imani Canton 6 points..

Lauren Browning scored a game high 10 points to lead JD Environmental to a 16-10 victory over Hamden Town House. Ashley Arroyo added 6 points for JD Environmental. Leading the way for Hamden Town House were Ryenne Carpenter with 6 points and Chasade Greene with 4 points.
Apex Pharmacy & Homecare led by Lauren Singleton
with 10 points defeated NewAlliance Bank 19-10. Also
scoring for Apex Pharmacy were Domini’que
Burgess with 4 points, Charity Hammond and Jamie Shoemaker both with 2 points. Leading

In a make-up game player Jan. 3rd, JD
Environmental edged out NewAlliance Bank 12-10 in an
exciting and well played game. Lauren Browning scored 2 of her 6 points in the forth
quarter to put JD Environmental ahead and JD shut down NewAlliance
Bank in the second half. Also scoring for JD Environmental was Ashley Arroyo
with 6 points. Janelle Cooper and Abby McVerry each
scored 4 points for NewAlliance Bank and Hailey Trasacco added 2 points.

Laneshia Porter 6 points, Shayna Mills 5 points and Camila Garcia-Millan 3 points rounded out the scoring for Hamden Greenies. Alysia Carrero and Charleese Smith both scored 6 points for Bruno Massaro and Sons while Kelly Butricks added 2 points.
