Imperial-class Star Destroyer Mark Two - Dark Star
The Dark Star is famous for having one of the lowest transfer rates in all of the Empire. This is due largely to her captain, Dolomar Daktren, who strictly adheres to a philosophy of preserving the lives of his crew whenever possible. It isnt uncommon for the Dark Star to be the last ship to leave a battle, tractoring in escape pods from downed ships and the like. Daktren is smart enough to know the capabilities of his ship and her crew, and wise enough to know when retreat is a prudent course of action.

This has led to not only an uncommonly loyal and faithful Imperial crew, but also a very skilled one. They are highly seasoned warriors who have weathered many battles and learned much from their mistakes and their triumphs. Because of the skill and coordination of her crew, the Dark Star is able to go into a battle with the odds stacked against it and still emerge victorious. Daktren is one of the few captains in the Imperial Remnant who can say without reservation that he would trust his life to anyone serving on his ship.

The Dark Star is also the base ship for Midnight Squadron, an elite squadron of TIE pilots who are always the first to head into battle and the last to leave. Despite their fearsome abilities in battle, one of their primary objectives is to school the other TIE pilots and keep them from getting killed. Thanks to this careful guidance, the pilots who make up the Dark Star have a very low fatality rate.

However, the story of the Dark Star could have ended up very different. During the height of the Empire, the Dark Star started out life as a simple Imperial-class assigned to guard Coruscant. Despite this esteemed, yet dull, honor, Daktren ran his crew through daily drills to keep their skills sharp in the event they managed to see some real action. Even at this early stage, the Dark Stars crew could run through parade ground maneuvers with razor-sharp precision.

The Dark Stars big chance came when it was assigned to assist in the prevention of the defection of the Nebulon-B Frigate Bloodlust. Daktren was able to prevent the Rebels from getting their hands on the frigate, forcing them to destroy it. Even though the Bloodlusts captain managed to flee to safety, the mission was considered a success and the Dark Star was assigned to other missions away from Coruscant at Daktrens request.

After the fall of the Empire at the Battle of Endor, Daktren loosely allied the Dark Star with whoever represented the best hope for the Empire, using this alliance to upgrade the ship into a Mark II. With the Empire in disarray, he was able to keep the Dark Star on the fringes of the galaxy, attacking pirate nests and small New Republic bases. Only rarely would he agree to participate in the infighting the plagued the Imperial Remnant.

Among the Dark Stars more notable missions were retrieving Kasr from the Jorzan CSA prison. It also assisted in the defense of the Bilbringi shipyards despite overwhelming odds, holding out long enough for the leaders of the Remnant to negotiate a temporary truce. For the most part though, the Dark Star has stayed in the Outer Rim, keeping clear of the constant power struggles within Imperial space.

While not fully aligned with Oremin, the Dark Star will perform missions for Kasr, mostly in the realm of intelligence gathering. It is also one of the few ships that knows of the location to Oremin; a secret that her crew guards fiercely.

The Dark Star is also the flagship of the 77th Imperial task force, a small group of ships who owe their loyalty to Daktren and to Oremin.
