Force Detector |
| The Force and those who use it will always be seen as a threat to Oremins goals. As a high security operation, every possible precaution must be taken to preserve its secrets from prying eyes, or minds, as the case may be. The first step to doing this is, of course, to discover who the enemy is. In the case of Force-sensitives, specialized equipment must be implemented to identify them and separate them from the rest of the populace. Without such equipment, it would be nearly impossible to figure out if someone was a Forcer. To accomplish this, Oremin uses the somewhat archaic force detectors that saw a lot of use within the Empire during the Jedi Purge. Although Palpatine destroyed almost all of these detectors after the Purge was ended, Kasr had the foresight to save a few of these valuable devices before they hit the incinerator. The device Oremin currently uses consists of two sheet-crystal paddles connected to a specialized reader designed to interpret the crystals reaction to the Force connection, or lack thereof, that dwells within the one being scanned. The reader will generate a small holo image of the subject with an aura that indicates their connection to the Force. If the subject has a strong connection to the Dark Side, their aura will glow red; otherwise it will remain blue. The crystals used are those that have been mined from the planet Circarpous V, more commonly known as Mimban. The crystals, known as thaissen crystals, have so far been the only known substance that have shown significant compatibility with the scanning technology. Acquiring such a rare substance in a significant amount, and still keeping it secret, has been difficult and thus Oremins supply of these Force detectors is limited. The detector itself is essentially the same design used by the Empires troops during the purge, with little in the way of improvement. The interface is somewhat clunky compared to conventional scanners, but still a step ahead of the more archaic detectors that proceeded it and required a blood sample. It is also more advanced than the other scanners as it can tell which Jedi follow the light and dark paths. While Oremin does seek to find a way to improve the scanners, such a project is on the backburner until such time as it can be deemed viable. The current incarnation is effective enough for Kasrs tastes and, unless something changes, a new type of detector will remain low on Oremins list of priorities. |
