THE M6D ASSAULT PISTOL
Useful for: zooming and headshots.
Best against:distant enemies and Hunters.
Single player tactics:some consider the most powerful weapon in the game... if used effectively. Use the zoom for distant targets, aiming for the head.
Multiplayer tactics: same thing.
Secret tactic: this gun is less accurate on full auto. Squeeze off each shot rather than holding down the fire trigger.
Did you know: that a headshot with this gun is twice as effective as a body shot.
The M6D Assault Pistol is a recoil-operated, magazine-fed handgun. It is issued with a smart-linked scope capable of 2X magnification. It fires 12.7mm semi-armor-piercing, high-explosive rounds. It can shoot either semi-automatic or automatic fire. Shot placement is very important. The only shot that guarantees immediate and total incapacitation is one roughly centered in the head, above a horizontal line passing through the ear opening and below the crown of the alien skull.
My rating: 8 out of 10.
My opinion: this is a great all-round weapon, and some say this is the most powerful one there is. Use with care. On multiplayer maps, never throw this gun away.
THE M90 SHOTGUN
 Useful for: the later stage of the game.
Best against: later game enemies.
Single player tactics: get as close to an enemy as possible before shooting. If they have a shield, it will take 2 shots.
Multiplayer tactics: the closer you are, the more deadly this weapon is.
Secret tactic: use the exclusively against the Flood.
Did you know: this should be your favourite weapon on tight multiplayer maps, like Hang 'Em High.
The M90 Shotgun is a pump-action magazine-fed (dual tubular non-detachable type) weapon. It fires 8 gauge magnum (3.5") rounds. This weapon is very effective against targets at close range and may be used to engage several targets simultaneously at medium and long range.
My rating: 8 out of 10.
My opinion: this gun is not so good in single player, but in multiplayer, it's deadly close up. This is your best friend on tight multiplayer maps, like Hang 'Em High.
THE S2 AM SNIPER RIFLE
 Useful for: wiping out enemies from afar.
Best against: Gold Elites and Hunters.
Single player tactics: stay back and snipe any targets you can. They usually won't attack you if you're far away. the sniper is also the best way to take out cover fire from above.
Multiplayer tactics: the map Blood Gulch is full of great sniping spots... search them out, and own the map!
Secret tactic: learn to shoot without the zoom. It'll be less accurate, but faster.
Did you know: the sniper is useless against enemies later in the game.
The S2 AM Sniper Rifle is a gas-operated magazine-fed weapon. It is issued with a smart-linked scope with two levels of magnification. Also, while in zoom mode you can activate light amplification. The rifle fires 14.5mm armor-piercing fin-stabilized discarding-sabot rounds.
WARNING: The 14.5x114mm APFSDS round is an anti-material munition. It can easily over-penetrate several armored soldiers. Be sure of what is on the other side of your target before firing.
My rating: 6 out of 10.
My opinion: this is a great gun for long-range firepower, but the lack of bullets in each cartridge, and the trail of the bullet is against you. On multiplayer, get a good spot like behind a rock, a cave, etc. and snipe. The map Blood Gulch is full of good sniping spots.
THE MA5B ASSAULT RIFLE
 Useful for: close attacks.
Best against: later game enemies.
Single player tactics: don't waste shots at a distant target... this gun is not very accurate. Also, don't attempt headshots.
Multiplayer tactics: Look for another gun.
Secret tactic: use short bursts. The longer you hold down the trigger, the less accurate it will be.
Did you know: this gun does not give bonuses to headshots.
The MA5B Assault Rifle is gas-operated and magazine-fed. It fires 7.62mm armor-piercing rounds. Rate of fire is limited by a soldier's ability to aim, fire and change magazines. Short, controlled bursts are more accurate than fully automatic fire.
The MA5B's integrated computer displays rounds left in the magazine and the relative direction of the gas giant, Threshold, for point of reference. This feature is particularly useful for orienting you in areas where it's easy to get turned around and lose your sense of direction.
My rating: 7 out of 10.
My opinion: this gun is helpful in sngle player when there is a bunch of aliens close to you. Toss a frag grenade, and shoot away. Also, good for shooting invisible enemies. In multiplayer, this gun is one of the worst. Stay low and look for another gun.
ROCKET LAUNCHER
 Useful for: wiping out bosses and vehicles.
Best against: Hunters, Invisible Elites, and tanks.
Single player tactics: save your rockets for bosses.
Multiplayer tactics: aim for the area around your enemy. Even if you miss, the blast should cause damage.
Secret tactic: Aim for the feet. You'll be less likely to miss.
Did you know: rockets are fairly slow. You need to give a good amount of lead to a moving target.
The M19 SSM Rocket Launcher is a man-portable and shoulder-fired rocket launcher. It has two major components, the launcher and the magazine. The magazine (the expendabe part of the system) contains two 102mm shaped-charge, high-explosive rockets. It is designed for fast, easy detachment from the launcher. The launcher contains the sighting and fire control systems.
My rating: 7 out 10.
My opinion: this is great for taking out vehicles, and bunches of enemies. That's all. Also, the rocket is very slow, so give a moving target some lead to get it.
FLAMETHROWERS
 The flamethrower is a computer-only weapon. It can only be used on the computer version. Halo 2 will have it available for Xbox. If you would like to submit some information about flamethrowers, please submit them at the feedback section.
