| L-Shelves | |
| Our fearless leader Amy found one of our woodworking mags laying around and took a look at some of the projects featured that month. Wouldn't you know it, she found one she just had to have! She wanted some simple L shaped shelves for the living room wall. The original design used plywood and biscuit joinery. We don't use that system of joinery in our shop, so we redesigned the shelves out of solid wood and dovetail joinery. They took way longer than we expected, but we enjoy the results now that they're finished. You have to give more respect to those old-timers that hand-cut dovetail joints for a living. |

The finished and hung shelves. We hung the shelves with a blind hanging technique that uses aluminum channel screwed into the wall. There were recesses in the back edges of the boards to facilitate the aluminum channel. |
| This photo was just to show the hand-cut dovetail joints. They're not the tightest but they still are totally functional. We think they add just a little character to the shelves. | ![]() |
