| ERIC HIERS:The black sheep of the Halloween saga. It is considered the most confusing of the series. It picks up six years after the events of Halloween 5, opening with Jamie Lloyd (badly miscast) giving birth to a baby boy. The baby is handed over to a mysterious Man in Black, who walked around in the background of Halloween 5. It seems Michael and Jamie have in the hands of this mystery man and the cult of Thorn, which is later revealed to the reason behind Michaels evil. Jamie gets her hands on the baby and escapes the clutches of the Man In Black, only to be stalked and later killed by Michael. But before she is brutally killed, she hides the baby. Dr. Loomis (Donald Pleasence) returns to hunt Michael, but this time a young man named Tommy Doyle (Paul Rudd) is hot on the trail of the Halloween madman and he has the baby. Soon he discovers Michael is back and is dispatching the Strode family, who are now living in the Myers house. As the night progresses, a cat and mouse chase is played out between Tommy, the baby, Dr. Loomis, Kara and Danny Strode (who may be the next Michael), and Michael and the Thorn cult. Bodies pile up as Tommy comes face to face with Michael and must protect the baby and Kara and Danny. There the dark climax occurs in the dark halls of the sanitarium Michael spent fifteen years at. Sadly, Dr. Loomis and Michael meet for the last time. Donald Pleasence died while filming this movie and a mess of a movie was edited together as a result. There is a longer and better version called The Producers Cut circulating around the Internet. ** RANK: 6 out of 8 DEREK SHARP: My other most watched chapter, this is the one chapter that somehow manages to connect with all the others and remains true to HALLOWEEN without ruining it. The viewpoint changes once again to Tommy Doyle, the childhood survivor of the first film, who manages to run into Jamie, who now carries a young child that Michael and the Thorn would like to get their hands on. This is sadly, Loomis' last chapter and final showdown with Myers', which ends on a bad note. |
