| ERIC HIERS: The fourth sequel in the series is where everything goes wrong. Picking up one year after H4, Jamie (Danielle Harris) is the care of the local childrens clinic after what happened with her at the end of the last one. She has become almost mute and has a psychic bond with her uncle, Michael Myers, who has been asleep in a hermits mountain cabin for a year. He wakes up on Halloween Eve, and kills the hermit and makes his way to Haddonfield. As Michael mutilates his way through characters (including a likeable H4 character), Loomis (Donald Pleasance) tries to get Jamie to help him trap the unstoppable killing machine. The two, along with the Haddonfield cops set a trap for Michael at the old Myers house (which looks nothing the one from the first two Halloweens). From then on, we get a somewhat decent climax and an ending that screams sequel. This movie seems rushed and seems like the filmmakers thought Halloween was Friday the 13th, because thats what this movie reminds me of, a Friday the 13th sequel. It has its few moments, but overall it is a huge disappointment. * 1/2 RANK: 7 out of 8 DEREK SHARP: A sequel to a sequel is what this film should be called since it picks up immedately after the last film and a year later. Even more interesting is Loomis role, now has become a guardian of sorts to Jamie, who is still plagued by Myers'. Only difference now is that Jamie has a telepathic connection to her uncle, which helps Michael find Jamie even better. |
