ERIC HIERS: This sequel brings the series back to where it belongs- with Michael Myers.  The story picks up ten years after the first two, with Michael escaping from state custody and returning to his hometown of Haddonfield.  This time he is after his eight-year-old niece, Jamie Lloyd (Danielle Harris), since Laurie Strode is said to have died in a car crash within the ten-year period.  Still hot on his trail is Dr. Loomis (Donald Pleasance).  Loomis and the town sheriff find Jamie and her foster sister, Rachel (Ellie Cornell) and take them to the sheriffs house.  Michael quickly slashes his way through the people there to get to Jamie and Rachel.  This sequel is actually pretty good.  It has a creepier tone and setting than the first two.  The rooftop chase and the truck battle at the end live up to the climaxes of the first two Halloweens.  Sadly the series goes downhill from here.
** 1/2  RANK: 5 out of 8

DEREK SHARP:
Cheers!  Michael Myers' is back but Laurie Strode is
nowhere in sight instead we're introduced to Jamie,
her young daughter, who now lives with the Corruthers.
But no fear Loomis is still alive (somehow) after
surviving the fire at the end of 2.  This
chapter...sadly,  isn't my favorite but it has it's
share of action,  which doesn't fit into the concept
that the first film managed.
On the otherhand,  it sets the next few films up but
doesn't give fans much to look forward to.
