HALLOWEEN 2000: THE FINAL CONFRONTATION WITH MICHAEL MYERS

OCTOBER 31,1998. SUMMER GLEN, CALIFORNIA.11: 53 PM

RECAP OF THE ENDING TO HALLOWEEN H20.

The Shape’s head rolls away from the headless Shape.  KERI stands there, breathing hard, staring at The Shape.  KERI walks over to the corpse and looks down on it.  KERI sighs and The Shape’s arms shoot up and start strangling Keri.  KERI screams.  Heavy breathing can be heard from his bloody stump.

KERI awakens in the back of an ambulance.  Two paramedics sit beside her.

KERI:     Where is he?  He’s not dead.  He’s still alive.  He’s going to go after John and Molly.

MARV (PARAMEDIC 1): Mam, calm down.  You took a pretty bad blow to the head.

KERI:     Where are John and Molly?

ANDY (PARAMEDIC 2): They are probably on the way to the hospital.  You’ll see them in a few minutes Miss Tate.

KERI:     Where is Michael?

MARV:     They are still looking for him.  His body was apparently thrown from the van when you went off of the road.

KERI:     No, he isn’t dead.  The van fell on him and then I cut his head off.

ANDY:     Miss Tate, you couldn’t have done that.

KERI:     I did.

ANDY:     With what?

KERI:     The axe.

ANDY:     The ax was in the van stuck in the back of the driver’s seat.  If you were to have beheaded Myers, it would have had blood on it.

KERI:     I don’t know how it got there.  I know I decapitated him.

ANDY:     You know, stealing is a big crime, but murder is an even bigger crime.

KERI:     What are you talking about?

ANDY:     Michael Myers was found dead three years ago in Haddonfield, Illinois.  He was buried immediately after he was found.

KERI:     He couldn’t have been dead.  That was Michael who murdered Will and Charlie and Sarah.

ANDY:     It couldn’t have been Myers.

KERI:     Who else could it be?

ANDY:     I’m looking at her.

MARV:     Andy, don’t start that crap.  It was Michael Myers.

ANDY:     How do you know for sure?  Michael Myers died and was buried three years ago.  It was the same night Sam Loomis disappeared.

KERI:     Sam Loomis?  Michael’s doctor?  He disappeared?

ANDY:     Yeah.  He disappeared without a trace.

KERI:     How do you know?

MARV:     Andy is a Michael Myers fanatic.  He knows everything about the case.  He has some morbid fascination with Michael Myers.

KERI:     Did you ever hear about a girl named Jamie Lloyd?

ANDY:     Myers’ niece.

KERI:     Yeah.  Do you know what happened to her?

ANDY:     She and Michael disappeared about ten years ago.  In ’95, she was found dead in a barn outside Haddonfield.

The image of Jamie Lloyd as a child flashes through Keri’s mind.  Then an image of The Shape coming towards Jamie and stabbing her flashes through Keri’s mind.

KERI:     Could you tell me everything you know about Michael?

ANDY:     It will take a while.

KERI:     I don’t care.  Tell me.  From the moment he was set on fire in 1978 up until now.

A FEW MILES AWAY FROM HILLCREST.

Two Hillcrest students sit in a parked car making out.  The car is in the middle of the woods, off of the road.  The boy pushes the girl’s shirt strap down the girl’s arm.  The girl is named Cindy.  The boy is named Mark.

CINDY:    Mark, we’re going too far.  Maybe we should have gone with the others to Yosemite.

MARK:     What?  It’s just a little foreplay.

CINDY kisses Mark and lies on top of him.  CINDY sits up and pulls off her shirt.

MARK:     I’ve died and gone to heaven.

CINDY kissed Mark.

Out in the woods, THE SHAPE stands staring at Cindy and Mark.  In his right hand, The Shape holds a bloody knife he had stolen from a hunter he came across.

MARK lies on top of Cindy.  CINDY puts her legs around Mark.

MARK:     Finally.  You are about feel something intense Cindy.

MARK sits up and THE SHAPE punches through the window and pulls Mark through the window.  CINDY screams.

CINDY drops into the floorboard and grabs her shirt and puts it back on.  Mark and The Shape fighting and grunting can be heard.  Four stabbing sounds, and then silence.

CINDY looks up slowly and looks around.  Neither Mark nor The Shape is there.  They are both gone.

CINDY:    Mark?  Mark?  Where are you, Mark?

CINDY looks behind her and MARK flies through the driver side window with the knife shoved deep into his face.  CINDY screams and jumps up.

CINDY:    Mark!  No!

THE SHAPE shoves another knife through the car hood and stabs Cindy in the head.   Cindy dies with the knife in her skull as THE SHAPE walks off into the darkness.

FLASH TO OPENING CREDITS.

SUMMER GLEN, CALIFORNIA.  OCTOBER 30, 2000.  1: 35 AM

KERI lays on the bed asleep.  She is tossing and turning and moaning.

KERI:     No.  No, Jamie.  Watch out Jamie.  Jamie.  Jamie, he’s behind you.  (Moaning)

In Keri’s dream, Keri is standing in front of Jamie, when she was eight.  JAMIE is playing with some toys.

KERI:     Jamie.

JAMIE looks up and sees Keri.

JAMIE:    Mom?

KERI:     Yes, Jamie.  It’s me.  It’s mommy.

JAMIE jumps and runs towards Keri.  JAMIE jumps into Keri’s arms.

JAMIE:    I thought you died.

KERI:     No.  Daddy and John are alive too.

JAMIE:    Really?  Mommy, I have missed you.

KERI:     I’ve missed you too Jamie.  I’ve missed you too.

THE SHAPE steps in front of Keri.  Keri’s eyes widen.

KERI:     Jamie, watch …

THE SHAPE shoves a large kitchen butcher knife into Jamie’s back.  KERI screams.  JAMIE cries out in pain.  THE SHAPE pulls Jamie from Keri’s arms and lifts her into the air.  KERI screams.  Keri had seen that before.  The Shape had done that to Jill, the nurse in 1978 and to her boyfriend, Will twenty years later.

KERI wakes up screaming out the name, Jamie.

KERI then calms down.  The alarm clock goes off.  The Creed song, “What If” plays over the radio.

KERI looks at the alarm clock.  It is now 8:56 am.  KERI gets up out of the bed and walks into the bathroom.  KERI opens the medicine cabinet and grabs her toothbrush and toothpaste.

KERI closes the medicine cabinet and puts some toothpaste on her toothbrush.  KERI starts brushing her teeth.  KERI looks in the mirror and THE SHAPE is right behind her.

KERI gasps and turns around.  The Shape is gone.

KERI:     Jesus Keri, you’re going to give yourself a heart attack.

KERI continues to brush her teeth and walks into the kitchen.  KERI pushes the play button on the answer machine.

KERI looks in the refrigerator and the answer machine plays.

JOHN (over the answer machine):   Hey mom, it’s John.  I just called to see if you are all right and how you are dealing?  How is Molly?  I tried to call her the past week and no one picked up.  I’m fine at Pontiac U.   There was some accident on campus though and the campus might be unsafe to be on, so we were moved to Haddonfield Community College.

KERI:     Haddonfield?

JOHN (over the answer machine):   Don’t worry, mom.  I’ll be safe.  I met this cool guy named Tommy on campus.  I’ll be safe, mom.  Don’t worry.  Bye.  I love you.

The answer machine beeps and turns off.  Keri leans against the counter with a scared look on her face.

KERI:     Haddonfield.

(MONTAGE OF SCENES FROM HALLOWEEN AND HALLOWEEN II)

KERI shakes the feeling off.  KERI takes a carton of milk out of the refrigerator.

HADDONFIELD COMMUITY COLLEGE.  HADDONFIELD, ILLINOIS.

JOHN and TOMMY sit in the gazebo on campus.  Their book bags sit beside them.

JOHN:     Okay Tommy.  Name the one thing you remember from your childhood.

TOMMY widens his eyes.

(SCENE FROM ORIGINAL HALLOWEEN: Keri: “I killed him.”  Tommy: “You, you can’t kill the boogeyman.”   Then they see The Shape.)

TOMMY:    I had an encounter with a local madman.  I was eight years old at the time.

JOHN:     Okay.  Tell me about it.

TOMMY:    I don’t really want to get into it, man.  I’ve just gotten over it about two years ago.

JOHN:     How did you get over it?

TOMMY:    That same madman came after his son, who was only a baby.  I had the baby and I was sure that I knew how to stop him.  But apparently I didn’t.

JOHN:     What do you mean?

TOMMY:    I took an iron pipe and beat the living shit out of him.  But apparently he didn’t die, because his doctor went in to “finish some unfinished business”.  They found the madman’s body and it had been stabbed repeatedly.  They didn’t unmask him; they took him to Oak Hill Cemetery and buried him.  But no one has seen his doctor since.

JOHN:     Was this in Haddonfield?

TOMMY:    Yeah.  It was five years ago.  For a while, I didn’t think he was dead.  Especially after what I heard happened over in Northern California at some private school.

JOHN widens his eyes.

(Montage of scenes from H20.)

JOHN:     What was this madman’s name?

TOMMY:    Oh I’m sure you’ve heard the story.  His name was----

Both TOMMY and JOHN:    Michael Myers.

TOMMY:    I knew you’ve probably heard of him.

JOHN:     I had an encounter with him two years ago.

TOMMY looks at John strangely.

TOMMY:    Where at?

JOHN:     Hillcrest, my old school.  My mother was the principal.

TOMMY:    Are you for real?

JOHN:     Yeah.  He killed several of my friends.

TOMMY:    I was only eight years when I first saw him.  His sister was babysitting me.  Her name was Laurie Strode.

JOHN:     Now it’s Keri Tate.

TOMMY:    What?

JOHN:     It’s not Laurie Strode anymore.  It’s Keri Tate.  She’s my mother.

TOMMY:    John, Laurie Strode died in November of 1987 in a car accident.

JOHN:     She faked her death.  We all faked our deaths.

TOMMY:    If that were true, Sam Loomis would have known.

JOHN:     Sam Loomis?  Who’s that?

TOMMY:    That’s the only man who could probably stop him.  He was Michael’s doctor.

JOHN:     I can prove to you that I’m Laurie Strode’s son.

TOMMY:    How?

JOHN:     I’ll let you talk to her.

HILLCREST.  SUMMER GLEN, CALIFORNIA.

KERI sits in her office, signing forms.  The intercom comes on.

NORMA (voice): Miss Tate, your son is on line three.

KERI drops her pencil.  KERI pushes the button on the intercom.

KERI:     Thank you, Norma.

KERI picks up the telephone.

KERI:     John?

JOHN:     Hey mom.

KERI:     Hey honey.  Is everything all right?

JOHN:     Yeah mom, everything’s fine.  There’s someone who wants to talk to you.  You might not remember him, but he remembers you.

JOHN hands the phone to Tommy.

TOMMY:    Laurie?

KERI’s eyes widen.

TOMMY:    Laurie?

KERI:     Who is this?

TOMMY:    Are you really Laurie Strode?

KERI:     Maybe.  Who is this?

TOMMY:    I have a new issue of Neutron Man.  Maybe you can come over and read it to me.  It’s been twenty-two years since I’ve seen you.

KERI:     Tommy.

TOMMY:    Yes Laurie, it’s me.  You are Laurie, aren’t you?

KERI:     Yeah, it’s me.
