According
to Gorean legend, man was formed from the mud of the earth and the blood
of tarns by the Priest-Kings. In Torvald legend, man was formed from the
hoe, water, and salt by the Gods to serve as their slaves. Those of Torvaldsland
share an addendum to this story. One of the Gods, curious, careless,
or, perhaps angry, threw his own axe to the ground and poured paga and
his own blood upon it. The axe laughed, lept up and fled so fast
no Gods could catch him. He became the father of the men of Torvaldsland.
