Tara and Alyson looked at each other, also teary. Neither could imagine losing the other like that. Tara slipped her hand into Alysons and her best friend squeezed it reassuringly.
Im sorry. You must miss her so much. Alyson said, softly, and held out her arms for a hug, which Siobhan gladly accepted.
Do you want to eat lunch with us, Siobhan? Tara asked, softly, as Alyson and Siobhan pulled apart. The shorter girl nodded and wiped her eyes.
Okay, come on. Alyson said, as she looped her arms around Taras and Siobhans and the three girls headed to the noisy cafeteria.
Siobhan stuck near her new friends as they scouted for a table with three seats together. The only ones were near a huge group of boys, and Tara looked at Alyson worriedly.
Windowsill. Alyson only had to say one word, and both girls with her relaxed.
I dont much like huge groups of people. Siobhan said, as the three girls plopped their bags down and squished next to each other on the window seat.
Me neither. I guess Im a little claustrophobic. Tara said, softly, and Alyson smiled supportively at her friend.
Hey, guys! a familiar voice said, and the three girls looked up to see Madison standing in front of them. Alyson smiled widely, and Tara echoed her.
Hey, Madison. This is Siobhan. Shes in our English class. Alyson introduced her new friend, who smiled at Madison, Hey.
Hey, Siobhan. Madison said, and glanced towards her usual table, and then back at the three girls, So, whats up? she asked.
Ooh, you just reminded me of something Tara and I were meaning to ask you two; Madison because weve known you for a year and Siobhan because weve known you a good month. Would you like to come to my house on Halloween night? Alyson asked.
Really? Id love to! Siobhan said shyly, Id have to ask my mom, but sure!
Ooh, I really, really, really wish I could, but my friends and I are gonna do some stuff on Halloween. But if its early-ish, I could come to yours first. Madison looked disappointed.
Well, we have to take my little brother out before dinner, but afterwards Tara and I were going to go to the neighborhood schools Haunted House. It would be around seven or so. Alyson explained.
Okay, that sounds good. 1329 Prescott, right? Madison asked.
Thats it. Alyson confirmed, Well see ya then! she and Tara smiled at Madison, who glanced over at her friends, who were looking over at her with not-so-happy expressions on their faces.
Gotta go! Madison said, and hurried over to her group.
I really, really do not like Madisons friends. I dont mind her but her friends...ugh! Tara shuddered.
Prescott? Im new to this town, Im not sure where that is. Siobhan looked confused.
Its near Skelt Elementary...do you know where Bayan is? Alyson asked.
Yeah, its near my house. Siobhan nodded.
Thats Taris street. Mine is a cross street of Bayan. What street do you live on? Alyson asked.
Lester. Its across from... Siobhan started.
Arbys. all three girls said at once.
Tara smiled, Youre not very far from us then. If you went west on Bayan from Arbys about a mile, youd hit my house. About three blocks before my house is Allys street. she explained.
Cool! Give me your number, and Ill call you tonight after I ask my mom. Siobhan smiled.
Alyson whipped out a small notebook, My writers notebook. she explained as she ripped out a page and scribbled her number down, Just dont call between 7:00 and 8:00 because Ill be watching... Alyson began, as she handed Siobhan the paper.
7th Heaven? Siobhan asked, and smiled at Alysons nod, I watch it, too!
So do we, but its kinda getting to be boring. Tara said.
Yeah, Charmed is much better! Alyson agreed.
I love Charmed! Siobhan exclaimed, and the two girls grinned at her.
Whos your... Alyson began, before shouting could be heard coming from Madisons table.
