GBS at the TLA
Philadelphia 2004
The Pat McGee Band
Then the set ended and the flurry to clear the stage began. I was reaching my standing limit but I was determined to stage upright for GBS. By the time they got on stage it was about 11:15 PM. Nansea and Paden came up front and we got Paden a spot in front so he could see hes only 10 years old. The fans switched places and everyone got ready for GBS. Vic says there were the most fans there for PMB and about 200 or so left after their set. By the time GSB came on, there were maybe 500 people in the 1000 person venue. Lots of room for vertical movement.

The stage appeared stark naked after all the PMB equipment left. We all commented on the lack of gear. I am continually amazed at the level of performance GBS puts on with just acoustic instruments and voices. Good going, bys! There was a bothersome drip from the ceiling all night, stage San/Bob but it didnt seem to bother anyone except me. * shrugs *

Donkey Riding was the opener after they bounded out to Chefs Ceilidh. Always good to hear DR. All the classes I have ever taught love that song and Ordinary Day.  Sean looked particularly good in a new t-shirt, probably purchased on South Street that day. You can get ANYTHING you want on South Street. And I mean ANYTHING. Its a bit of la-la land in the heart of downtown and has been since the 50s when it was the Beatniks headquarters. Many famous people have played the TLA, especially during the Folk years. Bob was wearing another one of his wallpaper shirts with the long sleeves. Hides a multitude of sins, as my Mother would say. Alan had the Jimi shirt on once again and Kris was in a RUSH shirt. Murray was resplendent in a long sleeved  t-shirt rolled up to the elbows. Sean looked very serious in the beginning but brightened up considerably towards the middle. We got to sing 2 choruses and a verse of Donkey Riding. I thought Alan was going to jump in after the chorus, but he didnt and we continued to sing the next verse and chorus by ourselves. He smiled approvingly.

When I'm Up I don't want to sit down!
