When Alan was handed the bouzouki for the next song, he had a few words of advice to the audience. I had a long time in Customs yesterday, trying to explain what a bouzouki is. If you are asked by American Customs what this instrument is (holds it up), you should just tell them its a big mandolin. They understand about mandolins. Apparently someone in Customs thought the Bouzouki was a bazooka!
I know he weilds it with great authority, but that's going too far! When he intorduces When I Am King, he often says that the border will be crossable anytime by anyone when he is king. Bet he was hoping the song would come true this time.
When the intro to John Barbour came next, the audience was in Sans court. They cheered him on and he sang it well and the audience was singing too. Thats the first time I noticed the audience singing this one. San seemed appreciative and I am looking at notes here that say mighty fine whistle. Yessir it was a mighty fine whistle! That compliment came from San to Bob at the end. |
