We trekked around in search of a seat, which was not to be had. Karen warned me that I didnt want to sit on the floor. So we wound up down in the Lounge area outside the Ladies Room downstairs. It was nice and I put my foot up on a table thingy. Cheryl wandered down also and wasnt feeling well. We could watch Big Head Todd on the closed-circuit TV that was down in the lounge. I was not really enjoying the music. I am not a big Blues fan and thats what I was hearing. My oldest son and daughter probably would have loved to be there. But it was not my cup of tea. I do wonder who decided on this paring. I think its strange. Actually, the Spin Doctors ended up being a good opener for GBS, I think. I cant explain why, but thats what I think. We grabbed Lynda and took a photo of the gang in the lounge before she went back up to enjoy Big Head Todd. We had to be careful as we had been calling him by the wrong name Big Ass Todd all evening. LOL! Oy vey! We finally got it right by the end of the night though.
It was definitely a GBS crowd. I think BTH had maybe a hundred people watching/listening to their show. GBS should have been headlining. But I guess they found that out. I still wonder what the switch was in Philly first they werent closing then they were. Might have been because people were calling up about the GBS show and not the Pat McGee Show. I dont know. PMB had quite a few fans in the audience, but I think there were more GBS fans there. They need to be headlining. Of course, Pat McGee fans were thinking that about their band too I guess.
Columbine, Karen and I left shortly afterwards without staking out the stage door or the bus and drove 2 hours to our hotel in Connecticut. I think we ended up crashing into our beds at 3:00 AM. I think Columbine was meant to travel with me this trip. I had left my credit card at home, we discovered at the Irving. And without her generous offer to cover the rest of the trip, we would have been sleeping in the car. Blessed be, Columbine may the Force be with you. OKPers are wonderful people dont let anyone tell you any different. At least the ones I choose to hang out with! |
