Something Beautiful came next with that wonderful whistle part of Bobs. If I didnt think I would fall over when I closed my eyes, I could have very easily gotten lost in that whistle. Thanks Bob and Alan. That song stirs something in my inner soul, both musically and lyrically. I enjoyed that more than youll ever know. Alan stated for the record, There is something beautiful in the City of Brotherly Love, indeed. The Night that Paddy Murphy Died "is a night Ill never forget. I went out back and sandblasted some chickens and they aint been sober yet. As long as the bottle was passed around, Kris and Murray were feeling gay, sang Sean. Alan but thats okay with us. Were Canadian. They can be married! And there ensued a short discussion of whether Kris and Murray should be married. As this was going on, Kris and Murray pantomimed getting married back by the drum riser. They even exchanged rings!!!! After Paddy Murphy finally ended, and a darn fine Paddy it was, Sean mentioned Kalem Murphy, the guy at the merch table, the hairy guy. Oh yeah he is hairy! Alan announces gleefully . Even his feet, quips Murray. Were ALL hairy, counters San. Were Naked Apes. Im really sorry, says Alan, giggling. Tonight is just going to be especially silly because we have the day off tomorrow. Youll have to excuse us. - This next song was written by Sean and myself with Kalem. Its about loving the guys right next to you.
Scolding Wife was delightful, with Murray really owning his verse now. Murray had a ball, grinning like a Cheshire cat all evening. There was something wrong with Kriss accordion and it never got played. Sean sat back with him for a little bit on the drum set until he had to do his verse, while Kris was trying to figure out what was wrong. In the end, Kris just put the accordion back behind the curtain and sat this one out. Alan tried to make Murray and Bob laugh but they both held on and did their part without a hitch. Seans part turned into She grabbed me by the chicken and we sandblasted on the floor.
Then he went almost immediately into General Taylor, taking the mic off as Lynda had previously reported and holding it out to us while we sang our part. Wow! There were some great voices out there. Sean hung on to that note for so long I dont know where he got the breath. And Murray with that one low note shook my chest and the room. You can truly FEEL that note. And sing we did! I dont know how our singing compared with other places but I thought we sounded particularly good this evening. Karen and I started our sway thing and got the first three rows at least into it. The young lady next to me looked a little startled when I put my arm around her shoulder and invited her to sway with us. But sway she did. And the audience had a nice little beat going with their feet, too. The beat made it sound like it was being sung as a real sea shanty.

Alan then announced that his family had had a new addition last year. At this point I knew Sally Ann was next. He said his older sister had a baby and he was in love with her. Its my first niece and I wrote this song for her for her first birthday. Then I am not sure but it sounded like he said that it was especially for her because he had to give her something for her birthday and he wanted her to like him.

As Alan sings his verse to Scolding Wife, Sean jois Kris on the riser, trying to figure out what was wrong with the accordion.
Love that intro to Shines Right Thru. Now that I have Alans insight into it, I feel better about the song. In fact it makes me appreciate it even more because they recognize that they depend on each other so much. The four part harmony on the word "rain" was worth the price of admission. Everyone squealed and clapped with delight.
