GBS in Boston!
Fleet Pavilion 2004
"There are Rovers among you. Your windows are in danger. Beware the fair maidens of the Greater Boston area." Murray and Alan were pantomiming the words to the verses while Sean and Bob were playing off each other. At one point, Alan and Murray ambled over to Kris's drum set but Keis "scared" them off by banging the cymbals really hard. They scooted away so I guess it worked.

Sea of No Cares went by with people enjoying it but not with the singing we heard the previous two nights. At least I didn't hear it where I was in the pavilion.

Helmethead found Bob playing to the large arena even better than he had teh previous two nights. Go Bob! Alan and Murray went to teh front of the satge as Bob was singing and headbanged their way throught the song. It was funny.

We were warned before the show that the b'ys had done the full-band version of
Boston and St. John's in soundcheck. I figured we'd hear it in Boston. The Bostonians loved it of course and many lighters were flicked on for the duration. Alan mentioned the song was about journeying between two great cities -  Boston and St. John's. I noticed that Sean had stolen Kris's blue shaker and used it here with his own.

Since they didn't have a show the next day, Alan told us that it was a night to act irresponsible and get away with it. "What goes on at the Fleet Pavilion, stays at the Fleet Pavilion,"  Alan explained. We all knew what was coming next -
Consequence Free, of course! Bob likes this song. You can tell by the way he sings it with such gusto. He had a big smile at the end of the song.

Mari Mac found Bob on fire. It was HIS song, I swear! He fiddled fiercely, waving the bow around, stabbed the air with it, bounced, danced, waved his arms and jumped his way around the stage. Was anyone else on it? Hmmmm. Oh yeah - Sean was singing.

Ordinary Day ended the show with Bob still smoldering from Mari Mac. He is the only person I know who is a headbanging accordionist! I laughed my head off. You should have seen him!! It was a sight! And he grinned like a fool afterwards. The security guard on teh side was just bouncing around himself. It was great to see.

We left after GBS's set to drive to our hotel in Framingham and teach Columbine how to play the game RUSH HOUR. It was a good thing because my foot was about to quit in protest of all the bouncing and standing. The best thing again was stepping outside the Pavilion and breathing deeply the sea air. I hope the b'ys could smell it in their dressing room.

Karen and Columbine got the last two seats in the back of the bus and I got the last one in the front. She and Karen sang the
Wheels on the Bus song during the trip much to the chagrin of the people seated around them. I got to sit next to Diane, who lives in Boston but had been born in Newfoundland and goes back every year. Diane said she sees the b'ys every chance she gets because it's a little bit of Newfoundland to remember for a while. I stood on the street for a little bit before we walked back to our parking lot taking in the scent.

I thank Columbine for spotting us the trip since I had left my credit card at home. If you ever get to road trip with her, she is so much fun, but watch the puns. Some of them are just sooooooooo punny.

I was not disappointed for any of these shows except for teh number of people in attendance. We gotta fix that! I bet they're happy the next leg is in Canada.

Come back soon, b'ys.
