| Thursday in the Square GBS Operetta |
| Donkey Riding followed as it always does and tonight we had, Was you ever in Buffalo, where Great Big Sea played a show, (anyone catch the last line?)" It was quite a sight, 10,000 people in their vertical movement. People were perched atop statuary, in building lining the Square, hanging out top-floor windows. This is the biggest crowd weve had in Buffalo! Alan grinned, Its nice to be back. When Im Up was just too much fun!! They all seemed to be having a great time and Bob was smokin on that fiddle! That's me in the bottom left corner. |

| Shines Right Thru Me caught me again. I dont know why I cant get that intro in my head. Ive been puzzled by it every single time they play it. I like the harmonies in this song and spend the time trying to get a good view of Bob. There wasnt one to be had, unfortunately. I made sure to ask the guy in front of me if it was okay to lean over his shoulder every once in a while to grab a shot. He said it was fine with him. But there were 4 tiers of people on the steps above me that effectively blocked any chance of getting anything other than a head shot of the by.
Things began to get a tad silly here and thus began the GBS Operetta. Alan commented on the fair maiden atop the column in the Square He proceeded to say how hot she was (a total hottie) and introduced the band as being from the Tropical Island of Newfoundland, Canadas version of Hawaii. Were east of here, you know. Come visit us in your bikinis in February. Then he went on about hockey something and on and on about the beautiful concrete maiden atop the column. I guess he doesnt know who is on that column its Our Lady of Victory. Alans good Catholic upbringing would have him running to confession for lusting after the Blessed Mother! LOL! Then the Operetta opened with a little song Ode to you, Fair Maiden This is an ode to you fair maiden of concrete, with your four guards around you. The guards look like pansies and we could take them in a minute Gee, weve only been here a few minutes and already weve desecrated your monument. Little did he know! |
