| "Trump 29/Coachella Valley Concert" |
| If last night's concert is an indicator of concerts to come on their Southwestern tour then Daryl & John are off to an excellent start. Maybe it was the ambiance i.e the venue, palm trees, fountains the soft breezes blowing off the desert or the most beautiful pink sky. In any case Daryl and John did not disappoint the near capacity crowd - the venue seats 2,200 and at show time 2,179 seats had been sold. The concert started just a tad late..15 minutes to be exact but once Daryl and John took the stage well...do they ever disappoint? Daryl in particular seemed in such a relaxed and happy mood. Smiling, talking and jestering to the crowd. Making comments about the desert and "wow this is really a nice tent..I mean it used to be a tent." At one point he told the audience "I'll play you anything you want to hear except not at the moment cuz the guy just gave me the guitar for this song." Well that got laughs from the audience. There were big screens on either side of the stage and a dance floor off to the side. However, security was strict-no standing allowed at all in the front until the last third of the concert when people were allowed to come down and they sure did. Some of the highlights: 'Cab Driver' - Daryl talked quite a bit about CSD...he really loves this album and is proud of it. He told the audience several times that they should get it and that there were a lot of good songs on the album. We know how much Daryl likes 'Getaway Car' and his improvisation lasted a good 5 minutes and was phenomenal...`"don't know where we're goin' baby but we'll go somewhere", 'Forever For You'- "...what kind of fool...I'll play the fool for you.' John did just such a beautiful job on "You've Lost That Loving Feeling" no one could have done it better and John just shined on this song. The whole evening was so special and the setting for the concert couldn't have been better. The soft warm breezes blowing across the desert and the beautiful desert flowers that bloom so prettily in the night air.
