| "Marigold Sky" |
| I was so impressed with "Marigold Sky" the first time I listened to it, and my initial impression hasn't diminished with time. Their seven year hiatus was a long dry spell for Hall & Oates fans but Daryl and John returned with one terrific album. No frills or techy gadgetry this time around, just a great sounding album with a very orgainic feel/sound to it. "Romeo Is Bleeding": My favorite track on the album. From the opening riff, this song has such a driving beat, and is reminiscent of "Say It Isn't So." I wish they would open their concerts with this one. "The Sky Is Falling": Simplistic yet forceful, and the great harmony that we've come to expect from Daryl & John. Great lyrics: "My heart is as dark as the sky." "Out Of The Blue": Really like the guitars in this number. "Want To": Funky...it really is all about urges isn't it? "Don't 'cha want to?" "Throw The Roses Away": A potent and beautiful metaphor..i.e. love is gone and it's time to accept it and move on. "Sad bouquets we save, Won't make up one sweet day Throw the roses away." Daryl has such a way with a ballad and this is no exception. "I Don't Think So": Another of my fav cuts..love the lyrics and melody. "Said the checks in the mail And the mail's on time I don't think so." "Hold Onto Yourself": Throbbing beat..gotta grove, gotta move! Anyone wanna dance? "War Of Words": Johnny you are SO fine on this song! |
