Have you ever considered that with your purchasing power, you can help a group of young women earn living ?
The women of Boujaad, Morocco are sisters, mothers, and families that have been working in the art of carpet weaving and artisan craft for decades. Weaving carpets, a long established tradition in Morocco, has become a flooded industry and the women are forced to sell their products for a low price on the local market. Their circumstances have pushed them to create a new solution, Company The New Generation
This community of weavers has opened new doors in creating a line of exciting woven handbags. In expanding their products from the traditional carpet they are now able to create their own market and price. Using traditional weaving techniques they have worked extensively with designers to select exciting color palettes, shapes and materials in creating a “new Moroccan handbag.”
The project employs artisans in creating a new, high quality identity, and seeks specifically to employ the young women of the community & to encourage them to enter the workforce. Please visit our products list to see the handbags, wallets, scarves, and carpets.
