It's quite common for him to repeat certain words or phrases over and over, until he gets them sounding the way he wants them to. I was surprised to hear him using the word "trust" which he must have learned from my efforts to get him to allow me to stroke the top of his head with my finger-- I had been repeating "Trust me" very slowly as I moved my finger towards him. He'll now say "Trust" whenever I try to get him to do something he doesn't want to do... like step up off the top of his cage when he'd rather not. |
