Disconnected

Life can alter reality
I wonder where the past went
Watching those around me
Quiet grows within me
What happened to childhood?
I left it so long ago
And now that it’s behind me
I don’t know-don’t know where to go
Cuz everyone has a moment
Where they realize
That every opportunity
Should be grasped
Be clasped
And held tight
Oh, I feel so disconnected
I feel so out of place
I used to be connected
But now I grew
And they-they stayed the same
It’s not that I don’t want to be
The same as I was before
I have to let myself be free
Unstrap the ties that bind me
Even if that means my friends
I have to leave them behind
Life is full of surprises
I’ll discover mine alone
Does this mean
I can’t be happy?
God, I hope not
I have desires
To be happy
But this don’t do it for me
No more
I-I feel so disconnected
I’m put so out of place
I used to be connected
But now I grew
And they-they stayed the same
I watch them laugh
And be free
But I know
That’s not a part of me
Anymore
That part is gone
Muted in my soul
Cuz I needed-I needed room to grow
Oh, I feel so disconnected
I feel so out of place
I used to be connected
But now I grew
And they-they stayed the same
