OUR NEW PRESIDENT
THE PLANE CRASH OVER CHINA
Issues like this one are why I created this sight. My personal opinion on the current "leader of the free world" is that he's an incompetent, daddy's boy, wanna be oil tycoon. Unfortunantly for the people of Texas, he didn't quite have the smarts to run an oil company. So instead, he went into politics. As the governor of Texas, George W. Bush lead the state to the worst educational system in the country. While cutting social services nearly in half. His massive environmental concern caused Houston to become the 2nd worst polluted city in the country, the 13th worst on the planet. With this stream of failures behind him while he was only a state Governor, one might wonder why the people of the United States would want him to be the President. Oh that's right, we elected Gore.
About a week ago a United States spy plane had a mid-air collision with a Chinese fighter jet. The collision crippled the American plane and destroyed the Chinese aircraft. Immediatly following the collision, the american vessel was forced to make an emergency landing on land belonging to the People's Republic of China. At this hour the Chinese pilot is still missing and is presumed dead. The crew of the American Plane is being held by the Chinese. American secretary of state (Gen. Colin Powell) has been allowed to see the crew. He reports that they are in good health being fed well and kept in a "well lit facility". Keeping all this in mind, all that the Chinese have asked for before returning our personel is an apology. My question is "What's taking the U.S. so long?" A country requesting an apology as an alternative to international struggle or war is probably the most respectful, Inteligent thing I have ever heard of happening in the international arena of politics. If a Chinese spy plane had collided with an American fighter jet and dared to land on our soil, our government probably would have tried to hide the whole event. After a thorough "cover up", I'm quite certain we would ceize there spy plane without hope for there recovering it. We would probably execute the crew of such a plane, and we would still ask for an apology. The Chinese are definently treating the U.S. With a great deal more fairness than we have ever given another country since our begining. I realize that our poor pitiful president might get his feelings hurt if he has to apologize. but The red scare is over, relations with China had been good up to our last election. C'mon Bush, swallow your pride and prevent a war. This isn't even the hard part of the presidency.
