The Open Air Museum
Comments:

1.  The Open Air Museum is one of my favorites!  In my opinion it is a must see on a nice day.  There are many different pavillions, but in poor weather conditions, the outdoor sculptures cannot be fully appreciated.

2.  Bring a digital camera for the outdoor sculptures.  You can take some great screen saver pictures.

3.  I spent about 2-1/2 hours at the museum and I did not get to see everything.  Budget at least 3 hours here.

4.  There is a great place for lunch between Chokoku-no-mori and Gora stations.  It is famous for fried dumplings called "Gyoza".  The name of the restaurant is "Gyoza Center".

One highlight of HOAM.
From Hakone Yumoto station, take the Hakone Tozan train bound for Gora.  You will need to purchase a ticket for JPY390.  The train has two switch-backs on the way, so do not be alarmed if the train changes directions without the doors opening.

You will want to get off the train at Chokoku-no-mori station.  The stop before Chokoku-no-mori is Kowakidani station, so start to prepare your things at this station.  When you reach Chokoku-no-mori station, exit left.  Museum signs are well marked.  Follow the sidewalk to your left for about one block.
