LaGonave Island Photos
Flying in to our home town of Anse a Galets, Island of LaGonave.
Aerial view of Anse a Galets.
This is the other way to get to LaGonave. This boat is the mission's sailboat, the Wesleyana.
It takes about 90 minutes to cross the sea.
View from the hills in the dry season.
Many of the mountain roads are like this. It is not hard to see why travel by vehicle is very expensive on these fossilized coral reefs and limestone. Tire tread comes off in chunks and heavy-duty springs break after a few thousand miles. Walking (including some shortcuts) only takes about twice as long as a truck driven carefuly.
