Tim welcomed Fr. John and thanked everyone who worked on grants over the summer and also Peg Roy for maintaining the bulletin board.

Current Projects:

Computer Update:  The computers have been delivered to the Norwich Mission House.

Library Project:  Tim reported that Fr. Horelle is okay with the library project.  We are waiting to get more information from him about where he purchases books.  We will ask Marguerite to contact him to get the information.

Communication: Kelsey will train Maureen to maintain the web page.  Maureen reported that the Haitian Communication will be ready for publishing in October/November.  Paul needs the password in order to renew the website and Maureen will get that info for him.

Scholarships: Need to define the procedure with Fr. Horelle.  Tim will update the donors and let them know that the scholarship will be used for one boy and one girl.

New Projects:

Solar Energy & Internet Dish: Tim reported that Fr. Horelle responded positively to using solar energy and an internet dish.  Paul will help Tim do research on both.  The fee for use of an internet dish would be approximately $100 per month, which could be paid by a sponsoring parish family or technology grant.

Financial:

Financial Report – was reviewed by the committee.  Tim reported that the cost of food has tripled since April.  We may have a pledge drive in January if we are not successful in receiving grant money.  Maureen questioned the difference in the January and April newsletter expenses.  Tim will check with Jean.

Hurricane Relief: Tim will ask Marguerite to call Fr. Horelle to find out what damage was done by the hurricanes.  A notice will be put in the bulletin advising that the 2nd collection at the Mass for St. Therese on 9/27 will go to Haitian hurricane relief.

Grant progress: Tim reported that Linda grants request to Aon, Homeland, and the Canton Educational Fund we declined.  Tim said we are being considered by Vista Hermosa.  Tim has sent them the requested information on food prices and what Fr. Horelle feeds the children.

Haitian Liturgy and HBP Sale, September 27-28 – Due to the unavailability of the church hall and the use of other venues, it was decided to postpone the Haiti’s Back Porch sale to January.  Tim will advise HBP and get a date for a January sale.

Chris Healy and Paul Beach will be unable to attend.

Membership:  It was decided that new members are needed and Chris will put a notice in the bulletin.  The committee would welcome members who would participate as needed and not necessarily have to attend a meeting.
