| Present: Paul Beach, Barbara Beddingfield, Janyce Campbell, Terry Gianzinette, Chris & Tim Healy, Marguerite Janelle, Fr. Ronald May Absent: Amor Lomibao, Peg Roy The meeting was held at 7:30 p.m. in the Rectory. Tim provided the opening prayer and reflection. Barbara, Chris, and Marguerite provided refreshments. Welcome and Thanks: The committee welcomed a new member, Terry Gianzinette. Tim also expressed thanks to Peg Roy for the new display on the Haiti bulletin board. Old Business -Paul reported that he was unable to get a donation of computers through UTC's contacts. It was decided that computers for St. Therese will be purchased in Haiti. Fr. Horelle would like 12 computers. The cost would be approximately $15,000, including installation. It was decided that we would initially purchase 6 computers and add more as funds permit over time to keep their technology up-to-date. The estimated cost of the 6 computers would be $8,000-$9,000. We will also put a flyer in the bulletin asking for donations from the parish to help purchase the additional computers. Barbara will prepare the flyer and Tim will email her photos to use. The flyer will be inserted in the bulletin the weekend of the Haiti mass (9/29-30). -The committee questioned the figures on the Haiti Financial Report 2007, which was distributed by Tim. Tim will ask Jean to put it in a format that is more understandable. -Marguerite has requested another grant but we cannot be certain about receiving it again. -We will write to Fr. Horelle for his input regarding the scholarship ($2,000) proposal guidelines. New Business -Barbara advised that the committee would be receiving a $3,000 donation through her designated United Way donation. It was decided that a notice be put in the bulletin to let parishioners know that they can donate to the Haitian ministry through their workplace United Way payroll deductions. Chris will submit the bulletin notice. -Plans for the Haiti liturgy on 9/29 at the 5 PM mass were discussed and the following jobs were assigned: -Bulletin notice - Chris -Program Preparation - Chris & Tim -Altar decoration - Barbara & Peg -Lector - Marguerite will ask Yvonne -Readings - Marguerite (Creole) & Yvonne (French) -Offeratory gifts - Ask Peter Fortier for recommenation of students to bring up gifts. -Music - Chris will discuss with Ellen B. -Refreshments - Committee members to provide seasonal baked goods, cider and coffee -Clean-up - All committee members -Haiti's Back Porch Sale will be held the weekend of the Haiti mass - 9/29 and 9/30. The following jobs were delegated: -Pick up crafts in Middleton on 9/28 - Peg, Marguerite, & Tim -Set up crafts on Saturday, 9/29 @ 1 PM - Paul & Barbara, Chris |

Every committee member is asked to personally invite two or three parishioners to find out about the Haitian ministry and possibly join the team. Chris will also put a notice in the bulletin. -Jean has requested that committee members provide her with more "prayers of the faithful" for Haiti. Please email your prayer(s) for Haiti to Jean at jean.cardello @sbcglobal.net. -Tim reported on the meeting he had met with Courtney Robyzynski and Maureen & Kelsy Snyder, who have volunteered to work on the Haitian Communication newsletter and website bulletin. It would be great if the Haitian Communication newsletter could be available at the Haiti mass on 9/29. -Maureen Snyder would like to work on a library for St. Therese School. Volunteers for closing prayer and refreshments on 10/15 -Marguerite will give the opening prayer and reflection -Volunteer needed for refreshments - Please call Tim (693-8562) Chris Healy |
