The meeting was held at 7:30 p.m. in the Rectory. Tim led an opening reflection.
Old Business
-Paul Beach is continuing to work with Hewlett Packard regarding a donation of computers to St. Therese.
-Tim reported that Yvonne will translate our letter to Fr. Horelle and scholarship proposal in French. It was noted that we need to be specific about the amount of money and about the 1-year time frame. We will offer two $1,000 scholarships. The letter will be written for Fr. May's signature, with a copy to Fr. Gerry. A project form also needs to be completed. Marguerite will check to see who is now in charge at Norwich Mission House.
New Business
-Ideas for a membership drive were discussed. A wine & cheese gathering (Haitian Halloween Party) will be planned for October 19.
-Peggy suggested collecting CHANGE for Haiti and how to involve the youth group. "Your CHANGE makes a difference; we want to help CHANGE Haiti for the better; CHANGE for Haiti. Another idea - Hike for Haiti. We need to talk to Todd Biondi and Peter Fortier regarding how to include the youth. We should also give Todd and Peter copies of our minutes. Another short term project for youth might be getting a goat for Haiti or some other item through Heifer International.
-Important to put notice in parish bulletin about money and what it was spent for; we need to advertise the accomplishments of the Haiti ministry in the bulletin to keep the parish involved and interested in Haiti.
-We need to put a thank you in the bulletin for the drugs collected and give an approximate dollar figure on how much was collected.
-We would like to get some photos from Fr. Horelle of the graduates and also some statistics regarding how many graduates since we became twinned, so we can share this information with the parish.
-Marguerite will begin working on the next grant application.
-September agenda should include the accomplishments for the year.
The next meeting will be held on Monday, 9/10 at 7:30 p.m. in the rectory. Marguerite will provide the refreshments and Peggy will give the opening reflection.
