If we all had to wear paper bags over our heads with holes cut out for the eyes, what would that do to society? I suspect that there would be a lucrative black market for pictures of naked faces.
There would be an outbreak of face-fetishism. Small boys and a lot of big men would draw anatomically incorrect pictures of naked faces on toilet walls.
Communication strategy would undergo a revolution as the hands took over the role of the face, expressing a panoply of emotions to accompany one's voice. We would start imagining what shape of bag would be over the head of the radio announcer or interviewer, not building a face to go with the voice but a contoured landscape of crumpled paper.
