MOP HEAD - Part 8
by The Bard
Eventually, as was inevitable, the pace of growth of my hair slowed down, although not for many years. These days, I feel fortunate to get six inches in a year. I can also no longer say that my braid is the same thickness throughout its length, although the last few feet would still beat for thickness many waist length braids I see. Mark still measures my hair regularly and rejoices in every inch. We now have to use a surveyors tape as the dressmakers tape measure long ceased to be long enough. Luckily, our house is now large enough that we dont have to go into the garden to do this.

Mark tells me that my hair might now qualify for the Guinness Book of records although I understand the previous holder has not been heard of for almost a decade and her hair could also be longer now. From what Mark has shown me from his internet surfing, my hair appears unique in combining its length with thickness, something of which Mark is intensely proud.

I, myself, am suspicious of all these claims. I expect there are many like us who keep their passion for long hair a private thing. I suspect the most spectacular heads of hair are only let down for private pleasure behind closed doors. I cant believe I am unique. The disappearance from public view of the Guinness record holder is a case in point. I, for one, would hate the attention that going public would involve.

For me, I just enjoy the soothing routine of hair care and the binding effect it has on our relationship. I enjoy the intense pleasure I am giving Mark. I see no reason to cut my hair and every reason to keep growing it. Mark enjoys anticipating benchmarks. I enjoy his pleasure as I achieve them. Currently he is looking forward to my hair growing to three times my height, which should be achieved later this year (I am five feet, seven inches, so work it out yourself!). His enthusiasm remains inexhaustible.

Looking back I wonder how I got here. My conclusion is that long hair chose me, and not that I chose to have long hair.

It was because of my hairs abundance and its speed of growth that it was almost impossible to wear it at any length shorter than waist length without looking strange. Once my hair was that long, it was inevitable that fate would bring me together with men who have a passion for long hair  - first Chris and then later, Mark. The rest is history.

So, it is not so remarkable that I have grown my hair so long. What is remarkable is my genetic make up my ability to grow lots of hair very quickly. I have grown my hair so long because I can. For this gift, and for the happiness it has helped to bring my way, I am intensely grateful.
